Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough pre-inspection activities, including review of project specifications, drawings, and coating procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Perform detailed surface preparation inspections, verifying cleanliness, profile, and anchor pattern to meet project requirements and coating manufacturer specifications.
  • Monitor and inspect coating application processes, including mixing, application techniques, and environmental conditions to ensure proper film formation and adhesion.
  • Utilize advanced inspection equipment, such as holiday detectors and DFT gauges, to accurately assess coating integrity and thickness.
  • Prepare comprehensive inspection reports, documenting all findings, deviations, and corrective actions with supporting photographic evidence.
  • Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and project managers to resolve coating-related issues and ensure project success.
  • Verify compliance with safety regulations and procedures throughout all coating activities, promoting a safe working environment.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to coating applicators and other personnel on proper coating techniques and procedures.
  • Witness and document coating performance testing, such as adhesion, flexibility, and impact resistance, to ensure long-term durability.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of industry standards, coating materials, and application methods, staying current with best practices.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Possesses a NACE/AMPP CIP Level 3 certification, demonstrating a high level of expertise in coating inspection.
  • Holds a Bachelor's degree in engineering, materials science, or a related field; a strong foundation for understanding coating principles.
  • Demonstrates a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in coating inspection, showcasing practical experience and industry knowledge.
  • Exhibits a deep understanding of various coating systems, including epoxies, urethanes, and specialized coatings, ensuring versatility.
  • Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling clear and concise reporting and effective interaction with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in using inspection equipment, such as DFT gauges, holiday detectors, and environmental monitoring devices.
  • Exhibits strong problem-solving skills, capable of identifying and resolving coating-related issues efficiently.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to safety, adhering to all safety regulations and promoting a safe work environment.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills, fostering collaborative relationships with contractors, engineers, and project managers.
