Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

To plan, coordinate, and control all Non?Destructive Testing (NDT) activities within the fabrication yard, ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes, standards, and client requirements. The role ensures timely inspection, documentation, and quality assurance for welds, materials, and structural components.

2. Key Responsibilities A. NDT Planning & Coordination
  • Develop and manage the NDT schedule based on fabrication and welding plans.
  • Allocate NDT technicians, inspectors, and subcontractors according to project needs.
  • Coordinate with production, welding, QC, and client inspectors to ensure timely testing.
  • Review drawings, WPS, ITP, and project specifications to define NDT requirements.
B. Execution & Technical Oversight
  • Supervise on?site NDT activities such as RT, UT, MT, PT, VT, PAUT, TOFD, etc.
  • Validate technician qualifications, certifications, and compliance with standards.
  • Ensure calibration and proper functioning of all NDT equipment.
  • Identify defects/non?conformities and communicate findings to QC and production teams.
C. Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure testing is performed in accordance with applicable codes (ASME, AWS, API, ISO, ASTM, etc.).
  • Review and approve NDT reports, film interpretations, and digital inspection results.
  • Maintain records of NDT activities, traceability, and weld status.
  • Support quality audits, surveillance visits, and client inspections.
D. Safety, Standards & Documentation
  • Ensure the safe execution of radiography and other hazardous NDT operations.
  • Enforce permit-to-work procedures for RT areas and control radiation zones.
  • Maintain documentation required for project dossiers, MDR, and final handover packages.
  • Lead toolbox talks and technical trainings for NDT staff.
E. Coordination with Stakeholders
  • Liaise with third-party agencies and certification bodies.
  • Communicate defect trends and propose corrective/preventive actions.
  • Provide daily/weekly NDT status updates to QA/QC Manager and Production.
3. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • On-time completion of NDT activities (%).
  • Rejection rate of welds and defect trends.
  • Compliance with ITP and project specifications.
  • Zero radiography safety violations or incidents.
  • Accuracy and completeness of NDT documentation.
  • Technician qualification and competency compliance (%).
