Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Project HOPE s is seeking a Nutrition Officer to join the Project HOPE Gaza team. The primary responsibility of the Nurse is to support the implementation of primary health or sexual reproductive health services at Project HOPE s health delivery points. They will be responsible for providing client counseling and direct care including adult, adolescent and pediatric health services for both chronic and acute conditions. They are expected to triage patients, ensure smooth patient flow, provide clinical nursing care, assist with referrals as needed and provide health education and hygiene promotion.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Nutrition-Specific Responsibilities (CMAM/IYCF):
- Lead the setup and supervision of CMAM services, including OTP, referral systems, and nutrition screening points.
- Provide technical support and capacity building to staff and partners on CMAM/IYCF programming.
- Ensure nutrition programs adhere to Nutrition Cluster guidelines, SPHERE standards, and donor compliance requirements.
- Conduct nutrition assessments at the community and facility level to determine malnutrition prevalence and needs.
- Oversee active and passive screening activities at clinics and outreach sites for MAM/SAM detection.
- Implement and manage Outpatient Therapeutic Programs (OTP) for MAM/SAM treatment, ensuring protocol adherence.
- Set up clear referral pathways to stabilization centers for SAM with complications, ensuring follow-up and documentation.
- Monitor and supervise the stock and use of therapeutic nutrition commodities (RUTF, F-75, F-100).
- Provide technical input for program monitoring, evaluations, and surveys related to nutrition.
- Provide technical inputs to proposal development, including caseload estimation, LOE planning, activity design, and nutrition supply forecasting in collaboration with the Program Manager and technical leads.
- Actively participate in Nutrition Cluster coordination and relevant sub-working groups to ensure alignment with national strategies, share field learnings, and contribute to sector-wide planning.
- Draft and submit timely nutrition activity reports, including:
- 3Ws / 5Ws
- Flash updates (bi-weekly)
- Malnutrition data formats
- Represent Project HOPE in relevant nutrition sector coordination meetings in coordination with the Medical Team Lead.
- Build linkages and maintain collaboration with local authorities, MoH, UN agencies, and other NGOs.
- Ensure coordination and integration of nutrition programming with other sectors (e.g., Health, WASH, Protection, MHPSS) to support a holistic, multisectoral response that addresses the full range of beneficiary needs.
- Ensure gender-sensitive and inclusive programming that promotes equitable access to nutrition services, including for persons with disabilities and other marginalized groups. Collaborate with the Protection and Program teams to integrate inclusive practices across all nutrition activities.
- Lead the implementation of IYCF and IMCI strategies through counseling, group sessions, and caregiver support activities.
- Contribute to emergency preparedness planning by supporting the pre-positioning of nutrition commodities, identifying priority sites for rapid response, and adapting service delivery strategies during emergencies or access restrictions.
- Provide supportive supervision, coaching, and on-the-job training to field nutrition teams, ensuring adherence to protocols and high-quality service delivery. Collaborate closely with the Program Manager to address performance gaps, ensure adequate staffing levels, and coordinate field team schedules and roles.
BSFP and TSFP Responsibilities:
- Oversee the implementation of Blanket Supplementary Feeding Programs (BSFP) and Targeted Supplementary Feeding Programs (TSFP) in accordance with WFP and cluster guidelines.
- Ensure the accurate identification and registration of eligible children and pregnant/lactating women for BSFP and TSFP.
- Supervise the distribution of Lipid-based Nutrient Supplements (LNS) and Super Cereal Plus, ensuring proper storage, handling, and documentation.
- Ensure proper referral between TSFP and CMAM programs for children identified with MAM/SAM.
- Work closely with the Compliance Officer to ensure accountability to affected populations (AAP) by integrating feedback and complaint mechanisms, promoting community participation, ensuring informed consent, and upholding the principles of dignity and Do No Harm in all nutrition activities.
- Monitor stock levels of supplementary feeding commodities and coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to prevent stock-outs.
- Coordinate closely with the Program Manager to ensure alignment of BSFP/TSFP programming with overall project goals.
- Collaborate with MEAL and data teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting of beneficiary data, distribution figures, and supply use.
- Support the use of digital tools for nutrition data collection and reporting (e.g., Kobo, DHIS2, WFP SCOPE), working closely with MEAL and reporting teams to ensure data accuracy and compliance with donor requirements.
- Ensure effective use and integration of the PIT (Post-Distribution Tool) and NEST (Nutrition Engagement & Screening Tool) systems for BSFP and TSFP data monitoring, in coordination with WFP and MEAL teams.
- Ensure beneficiary lists are regularly updated and verified in coordination with community focal points and field teams.
- Conduct regular post-distribution monitoring and follow-up to assess effectiveness and address challenges.
- Integrate BSFP/TSFP messaging and awareness campaigns into health and outreach activities.
- Oversee the integration of cash assistance programming for eligible nutrition beneficiaries, ensuring appropriate referral pathways, verification processes, and collaboration with protection and cash focal points.
- Monitor admission and discharge trends across CMAM, BSFP, and TSFP sites, analyzing performance indicators (e.g., cure rate, default rate, non-response) and initiate timely corrective actions in collaboration with MEAL and technical teams.

Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelor s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Nursing, or a related field; Master s degree is an asset.
Minimum of 3 5 years of progressive experience in implementing nutrition programs in humanitarian or development contexts.
Proven experience in managing CMAM, IYCF, BSFP, and TSFP programs, preferably with WFP-supported interventions.
Solid understanding of national and international nutrition guidelines, including SPHERE, WHO, and Nutrition Cluster standards.
Demonstrated ability to lead field teams, deliver technical trainings, and ensure quality control of nutrition services.
Experience with multisectoral coordination, especially integrating nutrition with Health, WASH, Protection, and MHPSS sectors.
Familiarity with digital data collection and reporting systems such as DHIS2, Kobo Toolbox, or WFP SCOPE / PIT/NEST.
Knowledge of community engagement strategies and accountability mechanisms aligned with the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS).
Experience with proposal development, supply forecasting, and contributing to project design is preferred.
Understanding of cash assistance programming in nutrition contexts is an advantage.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic is required.
