Duties & Responsibilities:

• The Nurse develops and collaborates with the healthcare team as needed for developing policies and procedures for the unit.
• Ensure nursing staff working in the unit are trained & certified in Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics program. (ALSO)
• Supervise nurses in performing basic nursing procedures such vital signs monitoring; accurate documentation/charting; cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) following ALSO protocols; and the ability to start and terminate an intravenous (IV) line.
• Provide accountability for the management of patient care by ensuring nursing staff availability at all times.
• Comply with CBAHI standards and other regulations.
• Ensure delivery of quality care as evidenced by adequate services and staff coverage on every unit, absence of odors, general cleanliness, prevention of pressure wounds and apparent maintenance of optimal resident functions.
• Assist with prenatal and obstetrical exams, including, but not limited to; prenatal screenings, pelvic exams, ultrasounds, weight monitoring and sample collection.
• Perform physical exams to monitor the mother s and baby s health that includes checking vital signs like blood pressure and heart rate, performing ultrasounds or report any potential problems.
• Provide assistance & consultation to women during their pregnancy, labor, and childbirth.
• Develop, implement and evaluate nursing plans on obstetrical and gynecological patients.
• Oversee nursing schedules to assure they meet resident needs, regulatory and budgetary standards.
• In collaboration with administration, develop the annual budget based on nursing department using variance analysis; analyze financial information monthly, complete & submit reports with appropriate recommendations.
• Direct necessary requisitions for the consumed stock items and submit formal documentation to the designated department in case of malfunctioning of equipment and defective instruments in the unit.
• Supervision of competency assessment for the nursing staff (e.g. written test, return demonstration) along with complete documentation.
• Develop policies and procedures for nursing staff and ensure complete implementation.
• Devise an effective patient handover process & review documented handover records between gynecological nurse and the unit/ward nurse at the time of transfer to a lower acuity of care; or between nurses at change of shift.
• Ensure that the unit has adequate equipment, supplies and diagnostic services such as ventilators, suction apparatus, airway sets, crash cart that includes defibrillator, all emergency supplies, and medications as appropriate.

Qualification & Experience Requirements:

• Bachelors of Science in Nursing Degree.
• Master Degree is Preferred.
• Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics Qualification (ALSO).
• Current Registration in the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties or at least Dataflow is done.
• Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience of nursing services in the Gynecology and Obstetrics Unit.

Skills and Competencies:

• Knowledge of regulations established by Saudi Commission for Health Specialties related to health-care practices.
• Must be adept to perform gynecological examinations and therapeutic interventions, using standard nursing medical procedures.
• Highly effective communication skills and ability to coordinate with other clinicians and executive staff.
• Clinical expertise in nursing services including, but not limited to, initiating cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), IV line & central line monitoring.
• Immediate critical nursing judgment abilities.
• Ability to maintain documentation of quality processes.
• Skills to operate technology equipment and web application software related to the position.
