Roles & Responsibilities

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Supply Chain:

  • Responsible for ensuring efficient and effective delivery of supply chain
  • Support and maintain a well-functioning IFRC supply chain operation in Jordan
  • Support the timely transport of relief goods to the respective branches and in coordination with the JNRCS
  • Ensure proper maintenance and services of equipment, vehicles, accommodation, warehouses and other essential installation.
  • Maintain records of IFRC office related stock and reporting on stock levels to head of country office and IFRC MENA supply chain.
  • Prepare reports on personnel and material movement and ensure that reporting requirements are fulfilled in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRC and RCRC Movement supply chain standards and regulations. Maintain an audit trail for all supply chain documents to ensure transparency and accountability within the operation.

Procurement:

  • Support and follow-up procurement processes with (international and local) suppliers Execute local procurement for IFRC in close coordination with JNRCS in Jordan if needed.
  • Maintain records of all procurements related documents
  • Maintain records of all outstanding purchase orders with external vendors and arrange transportation and forwarding services for all orders to ensure delivery on schedule.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRC procedures and standards, and national regulations, in all matters related to in country procurement.

Capacity Development:

  • Identify procurement and supply chain capacity development needs and subsequently suggest and assist IFRC Supply chain and procurement regional unit in building the supply chain and procurement capacity of JNRCS, where applicable.
  • Organize training to build capacity of JNRCS concerned staff and volunteers on supply chain and procurement
  • Assist JNRCS to develop warehouse and fleet management guidelines or adapt them if requested in coordination with the Regional IFRC unit

Coordination:

  • Build strong working relationships with IFRC Team in Jordan and Lebanon and JNRCS (mainly program and logistics) staff, acting as the central logistics point of contact within the team, to ensure smooth coordination between all concerned stakeholders
  • Communicate logistics progress and any challenges to internal stakeholders in a timely and effective manner, ensuring that any issues related to shipments or customs clearance are addressed collaboratively.
  • Provide updates on shipment statuses if engaged in operations to support JNRCS logistics action to Syria or Gaza, including any challenges faced in customs clearance or transport, along with solutions or recommendations to address bottlenecks.

Other responsibilities:

  • Provide backup for other IFRC staff, as required.
  • Perform any other task assigned by the IFRC Head of country office and/or the logistics technical line manager in IFRC MENA.
  • Participate in relevant internal IFRC meetings, development forums, workshops, courses or external meetings, workshops or training etc

Desired Candidate Profile

Required

  • 5 years of relevant logistics field experience including experience in warehousing, customs clearance, transporting goods, fleet management, purchasing and customs clearance
  • Experience in working in humanitarian interventions including large complex operations and/or development programmes
  • Proven experience to carry out supply chain assessments and set up large operations
  • In-depth grasp of supply chain practices, including legal aspects, knowledge of procedures and international supply chain standards

Preferred

  • Experience in managing and training staff/volunteers
  • Experience in project management, planning and managing budgets

Required

  • Professional use of MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Excellent communications skills including report writing
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional environment and multi-cultural environment
  • Knowledge of ERP usage in procurement related work is an asset
  • Valid driving license for light vehicles (manual gears)
  • Fluent spoken and written Arabic and English.

Preferred

  • Project management skills
  • Good command of another IFRC official language (Spanish, French, etc.)
