Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Lead the development, implementation & monitoring of Oncology Medical Affairs Plans

  • Drive excellence in external expert engagement via deep understanding of his/her therapy areas to lead impactful engagements, including congresses, stand-alone meetings, medical education, advisory boards, scientific communications and publications.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with regulatory, Market access & commercial leadership team to identify customer and patient needs

  • Develop innovative strategies and solutions that contribute to the optimal launch of new products and appropriate optimal patient use of already launched GSK medicines

  • Provide input into commercial strategy and marketing plans, involving technical accuracy

  • Ensure the delivery of medical educational activities and appropriate response to medical information queries.

  • Lead efficient & impactful internal & external partnership

Lead & drive performance of Medical Managers & MSLs

  • Sets team business objectives and priorities that ensure delivery of the Medical Affairs plans & metrics. (AKU & ADoPT)

  • Developing the MM & MSL teams capabilities to achieve world-class scientific engagement through excellence in day-to-day management and coaching.

  • Planning and prioritizing MSL resources and activities to deliver value externally with external experts, and internally with matrix partners to support business objectives.

Your responsibilities

General: The Oncology Head should spend at least 20% of their time in field activities.

  • Understand the clinical practice dynamics of the relevant therapy areas & competitors performance.

  • Build a good trustful relationship with Key Decision Makers & EEs.

  • Verify & consolidate the gathered insights to assist in the development and execution of innovative Medical Affairs strategies & plans that clearly support GSK development of medicines of value for patients & HCPs.

  • Lead the development of SE plans & ensure MMs & MSLs are performing according to their respective JDs

  • Ensure the MMs & MSLs provide the company with relevant therapy areas insights transform them into actions when needed

  • Help regulatory & Market access teams to ensure timely registration, development of assets value propositions and support access plans.

  • Attend local and international congresses and ensure the cascade of science to all stakeholders

  • Accountable for overall performance of the MMs & MSLs teams while ensuring continuous development/building via motivation, care & development.

  • Ensure relevant consolidated medical insights are effectively and appropriately shared across the business and strongly represent the medical voice of the external experts and the patients.

  • Use of GSK tools e.g VEEVA to provide coaching, feedback and monitor execution of teams medical metrics

  • Optimize and manage resources across the team (i.e., operational budget management, staffing levels, etc.) to meet the needs of the medical plans.

  • Effectively recruit talent and facilitate robust onboarding of all new starters.

Clinical Operations:

  • Collaborate with Clinical Development teams to ensure timely communication of LOC insights and that clinical trial plans, evidence planning, data gathering, and generation are consistent and aligned to optimize brand strategies

  • Identify evidence gaps and generate local data that would support faster market penetration of strategic products.

  • Identify opportunities to engage GSK in R&D studies

Medical Governance:

  • The language and activities of the Oncology Head must always reflect the medical nature of the role, be fair, balanced, non-promotional, scientific and evidence based while ensuring full compliance with GSK Code, SOPs, local laws & regulations

  • Review and approve SE activities in accordance with local SOPs.

  • Ensure team compliance with GSK standards and policies, and with local codes of practice, guidelines, and laws by driving a can do culture. Co-own management monitoring process with MG and ensure CAPAs fulfilment on due time.

  • Ensure alignment with GSK standards/requirements for quality & medical information

  • Monitor team s alignment/completion with assigned e-Learnings

Medical Operations:

  • Mange Oncology budget, phasing, spend & accruals.

  • Responsible for the overall performance of the MMs & MSLs team and the ongoing capability development by effectively leading, coaching, and managing.

  • Accountable for MMs & MSLs performance metrics by setting clear vision and expectations & by actively driving a continuous improvement mindset.

  • Lead the development of strategy, processes, and capabilities that optimize scientific engagement with external experts.

  • Use of VEEVA CRM for coaching, feedback, insights gathering and monitoring plan execution.

Pharmacovigilance:

  • Ensure team s alignment with PV requirements including trainings, timely HSI reporting and 3rd party PV oversight

  • Support PV responsible person(s) in accordance with GSK requirements

Job Complexity:

  • Deep understanding of Oncology & Hematology therapy areas and competitive landscape

  • Work across a complicated decision-making matrix that involves multiple disciplinaries & healthcare sectors.

  • Work with different stakeholders with diversified sets of skills, knowledge, and experience.

Desired Candidate Profile

Basic Qualifications

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Medical or Pharmacy degree with valid Saudi licenses SHCC

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical industry with minimum 5 years of experience in Medical Affairs and 3 years of experience in people management.

  • Oncology experience.

  • Broad range of experience working in the pharmaceutical industry, healthcare, hospital setting, or healthcare consulting environment.

  • Leadership, communication and people management skills, decision making, collaboration, partnering with ability to motivate, care and develop others

  • Project management, strategic thinking, teamwork within a matrix environment.

  • Problem solving

  • Multitasking and prioritization with focus on the project, negotiation and time management

  • Fluency in English written and spoken.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Postgraduate study (master's degree or Diploma) in the relevant TAs and/or a business degree

  • Fluency in Arabic written and spoken.
