Job Summary:

We are seeking to appoint an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in Quantitative Sociology. Candidates are expected to demonstrate strong, proven pedagogical and research skills in quantitative and empirical methods. All areas of sociological research will be considered (e.g., sociology of knowledge, digital sociology, social movements, social stratification, AI and its technologies, inequality, labor markets, migration, urban sociology, sociology of consumption, education, and religion).The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in Sociology and has a research record relevant to rank, with publications in leading sociological journals and/or with highly regarded academic publishers. The successful candidate will be expected to undertake research of the highest standard, contribute to high-quality teaching, and participate in academic administration.

Responsibilities will include supervising MA and PhD students, delivering a high-quality educational experience that enhances students' employability and academic standing, and actively engaging with the Program's research agenda. The appointee will also be expected to apply for research grants, contribute to teaching excellence, and strengthen the visibility of the Program and Institute both regionally and internationally.

The DI recognizes the importance of English for research and teaching. However, proficiency in the Arabic language is essential and a condition for recruitment.

The post will begin in August 2026. The search will continue until a successful candidate is selected for the post.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deliver graduate level courses.
  • Supervise master's and doctorate students in the program while actively engaging in the academic life of DI.
  • Publish research in specialized and related fields in leading refereed / peer reviewed journals and/or reputable academic publishing houses.
  • Undertake administrative responsibilities and contribute to the needs of the program, school, institute, and community
  • Participate in various committees at the program, school, and institute levels.

  • Possess competence and experience in graduate-level teaching.

  • Be capable of attracting external support and funding for research.
  • Have the potential to build a global reputation in specialized research fields.
