Roles & Responsibilities

Under the Assistance Programme, IOM has provided essential and lifesaving humanitarian support to Afghan guests at Camp As Saliyah in Doha, Qatar for almost five years.

The NFI Unit provides Non-Food Items and Supplementary Food Items for children and adults as determined for nutritional and medical reasons. The unit also conducts hygiene promotion sessions for guests, focusing on personal, menstrual, and child hygiene, as well as environmental cleanliness.

Tasks to be performed under this contract

  • Support NFI distribution and hygiene promotion needs assessments and gather beneficiary feedback to improve programme quality.

  • Support NFIs and SFIs distributions, including beneficiary verification, in coordination with the Operational Team Leader.

  • Support the delivery of hygiene promotion activities, including awareness on hygiene practices, menstrual hygiene management for women and girls, and the correct use of distributed NFIs and SFIs.

  • Contribute to the facilitation of community participation sessions and events related to NFIs distribution, IYCF, and Hygiene promotion.

  • Assist with planning and scheduling NFIs/SFIs distributions and hygiene promotion activities.

  • Provide support to other teams with assessments, including preparing tools, FGD sheets, and post-distribution monitoring (PDM) activities, as needed.

  • Assist with organizing and receiving supplies in NFI storage areas and the warehouse.

  • Draft activity reports and submit them on time.

  • Carry out other related duties as assigned

Desired Candidate Profile

Education

  • Secondary education is required, with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience.

OR

  • Bachelor s degree in development studies, Supply Chain, Sociology, Political Science, Public Administration, Management, Education, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with at least three (3) years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Professional experience in humanitarian hygiene promotion, health Promotion, Shelter, and NFIs programming, community engagement, and participation.

  • Prior relevant professional experience in NFIs distribution in a humanitarian context
  • Prior experience working in camps with migrants, refugees, and IDPs
  • Preferably prior experience working with a United Nations agency in an emergency context.
  • Knowledge of working with migrants, refugees, or IDPs.
  • Experience/knowledge and skills in translation and interpreting between the target languages.

Skills

  • Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to draft clearly and concisely reports.

  • Good knowledge of Word, Excel, and the Internet.

  • Strong work ethic and commitment to humanitarian principles.

  • Ability to work under time constraints and deadlines in challenging settings.

  • Capacity to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from various cultures and professional backgrounds.

Languages

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto is an advantage.

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
