Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Monitor plant operations operations (production levels, equipment performance) and initiate required corrective actions; identify any off-normal indications for assessment by maintenance.

  • Work with Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) and Load Dispatch Centre to ensure production and generation as per customer requirements.
  • Manage the workflow for the Operations team including work schedules and allocation of adequate resources.
  • Establish weekly meetings with operation staff on critical issues when required.
  • Prepare and provide weekly reports to the plant manager highlighting production summary, technical problems if any and any modifications to work schedule.
  • Monitor and detect major defects in operations units through the team and ensure that appropriate actions are taken.
  • Ensure that OPWP procedures and instructions are well understood and applied to/by Maintenance and Performance functions.
  • Implement annual/regular shutdown of the plant in accordance with established plans.
  • Monitor performance of the plants and ensure that all equipment is operating at optimal levels ensuring economic viability and in compliance with operation manuals and other standards.
  • Verify that performance tests for all equipment meets the standard requirements.
  • Provide recommendations to the top management to initiate changes in methods, schedules and procedures needed to meet exigencies of the plant operations.
  • Establish an information system to verify that plant operations meet specified limits, schedules and technical specifications.
  • Participate in discussions and provide recommendations for new plant designs, technical specifications and operating methods related to the plant.
  • Work with Asset Management function to monitor the performance of assets within the Operations department and ensure appropriate utilization and usage.
  • Work with Maintenance function to establish preventive maintenance procedures for assets and implement corrective maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure timely inspection of plants and plant assets and ensure that all assets meet operations standards.
  • Report any irregular operations or equipment defaults or failures to Maintenance function.
  • Implement all applicable HSE standards of the company and drive adherence by contractors, plant staff and other involved parties in day-to-day activities.
  • Ensure proper application of sanctions for testing, work permits, and limitation of access (LOA).
  • Report incidents of HSE violations and lapses to the competent authority.
  • Identify and plan for expenses during the year in alignment with business objectives and priorities.
  • Provide inputs in finalizing the budget for the department/section and monitor budget continuously.
  • Highlight and prepare a business case for deviations from budget/expenditures on unplanned activities.
  • Communicate the overall business plan and focus areas for the business and clarify the manner in which the team will contribute to overall business objectives; translate the business plan into team/departmental objectives.
  • Delegate responsibilities and tasks to team members with clear timelines and expectations on quality; make available the requisite resources to perform the job.
  • Review performance in an objective, fair, and transparent manner and hold people accountable for performance; create development plans in line with employee aspirations and company objectives.
  • Identify Identify the business need for establishing a process and provide inputs in defining and documenting it; assign accountabilities within the team for managing the process.
  • Adhere to internal processes and encourage adherence from team members; recognize the need for modifications to existing processes and share them with appropriate teams.
  • Treat IT security with the utmost importance and adhere to ISO standards and aspects on IT security.
  • Adhere to all Company policy and procedures.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualification:

  • Bachelor degree of Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering/ Process Engineering.

Professional Experience:

  • At least 9 years experience in the Gas Turbines operations of a large power of which should be in the capacity as an Operations Superintendent.
  • Contractual and commercial experience.
