Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Ophthalmology Technologist assists ophthalmologists in diagnosing and managing eye conditions by performing diagnostic tests, patient assessments, and assisting during procedures. The role requires technical expertise, excellent patient care skills, and knowledge of ophthalmic equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, intraocular pressure, slit-lamp examination, and retinal imaging.
Assist ophthalmologists during clinical procedures and surgeries.
Prepare patients for examinations, including explaining procedures and ensuring comfort.
Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment to ensure accuracy.
Record patient histories and document test results accurately.
Educate patients on eye care and post-procedure instructions.
Ensure adherence to infection control and safety protocols.
Manage patient flow and coordinate appointments.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Qualifications:
Associate s degree or diploma in Ophthalmic Technology or related field.
Certification from recognized body (e.g., COA, COT) preferred.
Prior experience in an ophthalmology clinic is advantageous.
Proficiency in using ophthalmic diagnostic equipment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
