Orient Exchange Co. LLC is a UAE-based foreign exchange company established in 1923, recognised as one of the pioneers of the foreign exchange business in the UAE. The company commenced operations in the early twentieth century in response to market demand and in the absence of formal banking or financial institutions in the country at that time. Orient Exchange currently operates through 36 outlets across the United Arab Emirates. The company was among the earliest exchange businesses in the UAE to fully computerise its operations, having done so in the early 1980s, and currently manages its operations through a web-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Orient Exchange maintains a centralised compliance department overseeing Anti-Money Laundering policies, Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures, and associated control systems. The company is fully regulated by the Central Bank of the UAE, and its operations and accounts are subject to regular inspection by the regulatory authority.
