Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
· Process workshop parts orders and recommend additional related repair items.
· Gain superior product knowledge and understanding of vehicle components to effectively help the workshop operation.
· Interact with the Service Team to coordinate parts for vehicle repair and service.
· Order parts from suppliers based on the Service Department and customer requests.
· Receive, unpack, and store parts in appropriate storage areas so they are readily available when needed.
· Research and evaluate potential vendors and suppliers.
· Maintain accountability for inventory accuracy by correctly charging, pulling, and issuing parts in a precise manner and according to process.
· Provide a high level of personal service to the work floor staff by assisting them in identifying and obtaining needed parts.
· Directly work with the technicians and team leaders in selecting parts needed for repairs.
· Accurately identifying the customer’s needs and promoting the benefits of using genuine OEM parts.
· Accurately specified and identify parts needed to meet customer requirements, so that the number of parts returned due to errors is low.
· Maintain accurate purchase and inventory records of all invoiced items. Accurately cost out parts and accessories on counter tickets and repair orders.
· Process core returns, parts warranties, and parts returns as necessary.
· Maintain a clean and professional appearance of the counter, work area, and stockroom.
· Take inventory, maintain records of goods received, and keeps perpetual inventory controls.
· Locates out-of-stock parts from an outside source and submits an emergency order, if necessary.
· Notifies the parts manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials that need immediate attention.
· Notify the service advisor and the customer when specially ordered parts have been received.
· Follows up on back-ordered parts.
· Make sure all internal requests for parts are billed on the repair service order.
· Issues credit for parts returned, ensuring that the original invoice, or its number, is available so that purchase and pricing can be verified.
· Participates with the parts manager in maintaining a tracking system of parts.
Desired Candidate Profile
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in automotive technology or a related field is a plus.
- Possesses relevant automotive parts experience, with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and colleagues.
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of automotive systems and components, with experience in a dealership or automotive repair environment.
