Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
To perform patient administration, medical insurance, billing and cash management services in line with quality standards and company policies
- Manage patient admissions, discharges, and transfers, ensuring all documentation is accurate and efficiently processed to maintain patient flow.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits, obtaining necessary pre-authorizations to prevent billing issues and ensure patients receive timely care.
- Coordinate patient appointments, including scheduling, confirming, and managing appointment reminders to optimize clinic efficiency and patient satisfaction.
- Maintain patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations while updating patient information in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Handle patient inquiries, providing exceptional customer service and resolving issues related to billing, appointments, and general healthcare information.
- Process patient payments, manage accounts receivable, and reconcile daily transactions to maintain accurate financial records and minimize outstanding balances.
- Prepare and submit medical claims to insurance companies, following up on denied claims to ensure timely reimbursement and minimize financial losses.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and other departments to ensure seamless patient care coordination, addressing any needs or concerns.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment, ordering replacements as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the clinic.
- Adhere to established clinic policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and contributing to a safe and efficient work environment.
Desired Candidate Profile
Healthcare experience / customer service experience preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or a related field is preferred.
- Possess certifications such as Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) are highly advantageous.
- Prior experience (1-3 years) in a healthcare setting, specifically in patient administration or a similar role, is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, coding, and billing procedures is essential for accurate record-keeping and claim submissions.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and other relevant software applications is necessary for managing patient data.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to interact with patients, providers, and staff members.
- Possess strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Exhibit excellent customer service skills, with a patient-centered approach and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail when completing administrative tasks, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
- Show a proactive and collaborative attitude, working well within a team and contributing to a positive and efficient work environment.
