Roles & Responsibilities


Requirements:

Bachelor s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field with recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).

A minimum of 2 years of successful PE teaching experience, preferably within an international British-curriculum school environment.

Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging, inclusive PE lessons that develop physical literacy, teamwork, confidence, and lifelong healthy habits.

Strong working knowledge of contemporary PE pedagogy, sport-specific skill progression, and fitness programming that supports high levels of student participation and achievement.

Experience organising and leading sports fixtures, tournaments, and co-curricular competitions, including liaison with BSME leagues and external sporting bodies.

Skilled in proactive behaviour management and positive coaching methods that promote safety, sportsmanship, respect, and self-discipline.

Proven capacity to collaborate effectively with colleagues, leadership, students, and families, contributing to whole-school wellbeing, enrichment programmes, and school-wide physical activity initiatives.


Job Description:

Plan and deliver high-quality PE lessons that are developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and aligned with school curriculum expectations.

Organising and managing BSME competitions, in accordance with a structured work flow and timeline.

Promote physical fitness, teamwork, fair play, and sportsmanship, ensuring all students feel supported and motivated to participate and improve.

Lead and supervise school sports fixtures (up to 2 per week), tournaments, and extracurricular teams, including scheduling, training, selection, and communication with BSME and other external sporting networks. These may be during weekends and after school.

Organise and support co-curricular sports activities and whole-school events, including sports days, inter-house competitions, and recreational clubs.

Assess, monitor, and record students physical development and performance, providing clear feedback and guidance to support progress and confidence.

Maintain accurate documentation of participation, fixture results, safeguarding requirements, and PE equipment usage.

Collaborate with colleagues to promote health, wellbeing, and active lifestyles, contributing to cross-curricular initiatives and whole-school physical activity programmes.

Model positive behaviour, resilience, and professionalism, reinforcing EBIS core values through sport and daily interactions.

Ensure safe use of facilities and equipment, embedding risk assessment and safeguarding expectations in all PE sessions and off-site activities.

Contribute to weekly CPD, departmental discussions, and programme development to enhance PE provision and support continuous improvement.

Uphold the school s safeguarding and child protection policies at all times, ensuring safe practice during lessons, fixtures, off-site activities, and supervision, and reporting any concerns immediately in accordance with school procedures.
