Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Clinical Care · Diagnose and manage a wide range of pediatric neurological conditions including epilepsy, cerebral palsy, neurodevelopmental disorders, headaches, and neuromuscular diseases. · Conduct comprehensive neurological assessments and evaluations for pediatric patients. · Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and follow-up care. · Perform and interpret diagnostic procedures including EEG, EMG, nerve conduction studies, and neuroimaging. · Manage acute neurological emergencies such as seizures, status epilepticus, and stroke in children. · Provide consultations to other departments regarding pediatric neurological conditions. · Monitor and manage patients on anti-epileptic and other neurological medications. · Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams including pediatricians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and psychologists. Neonatal Neurology · Evaluate and manage neurological conditions in neonates including hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), neonatal seizures, intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH), and congenital brain malformations. · Collaborate closely with the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) team for neurocritical care of newborns. · Perform and interpret neonatal EEG and amplitude-integrated EEG (aEEG). · Provide neurodevelopmental follow-up for high-risk neonates. · Counsel families on diagnosis, prognosis, and long-term management of neonatal neurological conditions. Epilepsy Management · Manage pediatric epilepsy including complex and refractory cases. · Review and interpret long-term video EEG monitoring. · Evaluate patients for epilepsy surgery candidacy. · Manage ketogenic diet therapy and vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) programs. Neurodevelopmental Disorders · Evaluate and manage autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, intellectual disabilities, developmental delays, and learning disorders. · Coordinate with developmental pediatrics, psychology, and therapy teams. Academic & Research · Participate in clinical research, audits, and quality improvement initiatives. · Contribute to teaching and training of medical students, residents, and fellows. · Stay updated with the latest advancements in pediatric neurology through CME activities and conferences. · Publish case reports, research papers, and participate in academic activities. Administrative & Compliance · Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation and patient records. · Ensure compliance with hospital policies, clinical guidelines, and regulatory standards. · Participate in departmental meetings, case conferences, and mortality and morbidity reviews. · Support accreditation and quality assurance activities.

Desired Candidate Profile

· MBBCh / MBBS / MD or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution. · Postgraduate qualification in Pediatrics – MD / DCH / MRCPCH or equivalent. · Fellowship or Sub-specialty training in Pediatric Neurology from a recognized institution. · Valid medical license / Board Certification in Pediatric Neurology. · DHA / MOH / HAAD / DOH license preferred (for UAE-based roles). Experience Requirements · Minimum 5–10 years of post-qualification experience in Pediatric Neurology. · Proven experience in managing complex pediatric neurological and neonatal neurological cases. · Experience working in a tertiary care or academic medical center preferred. · Experience in epilepsy monitoring units and neonatal neurocritical care is an advantage.
