Roles & Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Project Coordinator and the overall supervision of the Climate Change and Natural Resource Sustainability Cluster Lead, the consultant is responsible for two sets of deliverables:

  1. Develop a permaculture training workshop structure, content and materials that introduce the fundamentals of permaculture through interactive and on-site training tools. The content should be appropriate for the on-site delivery to a group of up to 20 participants.
  2. Implement a permaculture training workshop for up to 20 participants from across the Arab region, providing them with interactive training sessions and materials furing a two-day workshop and the Greening the Desert site in South Shuneh, Jordan.

Desired Candidate Profile

A Master s degree or equivalent in environmental, agricultural, or related fields is required. Demonstrated training in permaculture is desirable. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree. Note: All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in sustainable agriculture and permaculture in the Arab region is required. Experience in designing and delivering training material on permaculture is required. A minimum of two years of work with international organizations and/or UN agencies is desirable. Work experience in the Middle East and North Africa, particularly with national and municipal counterparts, is desirable.
