Key Responsibilities:
Permit Review and Acknowledgement:
Receive and review work permits issued for specific jobs (e.g., hot work, confined space entry, electrical work, lifting operations).
Ensure that the work permit is issued by the appropriate authority and covers all safety measures, including necessary precautions, hazards, and control measures.
Verify that the scope of work is clearly defined, and any associated risks have been adequately assessed.
Understanding Safety Requirements:
Thoroughly understand and communicate the safety requirements, hazards, and control measures associated with the work permit to all involved personnel.
Ensure that workers and supervisors involved in the job are aware of the specific safety protocols and precautions before beginning work.
Ensure that the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is identified and used by personnel involved in the job.
Permit Distribution:
Ensure that work permits are appropriately distributed to the involved parties, including supervisors, workers, and the site safety team.
Communicate key details of the permit to ensure everyone is aware of the restrictions, time limits, and any special safety precautions associated with the work.
Worksite Coordination and Monitoring:
Monitor the site to ensure that work activities are performed according to the requirements specified in the work permit.
Coordinate with the permit issuer and other stakeholders to ensure work progresses safely and without violations of the permit conditions.
Maintain clear communication with supervisors and safety officers regarding any changes or issues encountered during the work.
Ensuring Safe Work Practices:
Ensure that all work activities, such as hot work, confined space entry, and electrical work, are conducted under the conditions outlined in the work permit, ensuring worker safety and compliance with operational standards.
Immediately stop work if unsafe conditions are identified or if the work deviates from the approved safety protocols.
Inspection and Verification:
Conduct pre-work site inspections to verify that all safety measures are in place and the work area is properly prepared before work begins.
Ensure that equipment, tools, and machinery used in the job are in good condition and suitable for the work specified in the permit.
Check that all safety barriers, signage, and hazard zones are in place and properly marked.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of all permits issued, including start and end times, job descriptions, and safety measures taken.
Ensure that permit documents are signed and completed according to Aramco s safety standards, including any required follow-up actions or permits for ongoing work.
Submit completed permits to the designated permit coordinator or relevant authority for final approval and closure.
Emergency Preparedness and Response:
Ensure that emergency response procedures are in place before any work begins and that all personnel are aware of the emergency protocols in case of incidents.
Participate in emergency drills and simulations, ensuring familiarity with emergency response procedures and quick action when necessary.
HSE Compliance:
Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations, both specific to Saudi Aramco's guidelines and general industry standards.
Participate in regular HSE meetings, toolboxes, and audits to stay updated on the latest safety practices and regulatory changes.
Report any safety violations or risks to the site safety officer or project manager.
Permit Close-Out:
Ensure that the work is completed safely and in accordance with the terms of the work permit before officially closing the permit.
Verify that all safety checks have been completed and all hazards have been controlled before permit closure.
Ensure that all relevant documents, including inspection reports, safety logs, and incident reports (if applicable), are properly filed.
