DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Dispenses medications to medical outpatients/inpatients per outpatient prescription or inpatient or narcotic and controlled medication order according to training provided under the supervision of a Pharmacist. Reviews and interprets each prescription/medication order before dispensing to ascertain correctness of strength, dose, instructions and dosage form. Initiates updating of computerized patient medication profile by entering prescribed medications and reviewing profile for allergies, contraindications, pharmacological duplications, drug/drug and drug/food interactions and adherence to drug restriction policies.
- Compound sterile preparation.
- Provides appropriate patient information concerning the dispensed medications.
- Advises/questions/clarified any prescription abnormality with the prescribing physician. Any unresolved problems are referred to Pharmacist.
- Compounds extemporaneous preparations according to training provided when prescribed following professionally accepted techniques and guidelines under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Requests, receives, transfers and adjusts medication stock and maintains computerized records per established guidelines to ensure drug availability and correct computer inventory accurately reflecting physical inventory (when applicable to the job).
- Repackaging, labeling and documentation of medications for unit dose distribution and/or outpatient bulk distribution.
- Support of pharmacist s patient care activities, and Preparation of prescription orders for a pharmacist s clinical review.
- Fills user unit requisitions and maintains proper records of such action.
- Fills unit dose patient carts (when applicable to job) per unit dose drug distribution policies.
- Receives supplies from storehouse; checks received material against the copy, accompanying the material; identifies and reports any overage, shortage or damaged material to the pharmacist
-Segregates pharmaceuticals in-groups by label identification; put them on shelves in accordance with first-in-first-out system of issue. Under supervised work experience learns to segregate items that require refrigeration.
- Inspects drug cabinets and removes any outdated or deteriorated medications.
- Answers drug related inquiries received from physicians, dentists, nurses. Those inquiries, which cannot be answered with certainty, are to be referred to the Pharmacist.
- Performs specialty pharmacy activities, as delegated and trained.
- Performs other miscellaneous duties, as directed by the Chief of the Department or group Pharmacist.
- Provide personalized coordinated care, support and treatment for patients and families.

- Involve patients, families and caregivers by providing them with education and resources for offering optimal support to promote recovery.

QUALIFICATIONS :
- A Pharmacy Diploma from Saudi Arab Government recognized Health Institute for Saudi Arab nationals or a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy.
- Licensed to practice assistant pharmacy in Saudi Arabia.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE :
Minimum 2 years experience
