Roles & Responsibilities
Job Summary:
The Pipefitter is responsible for installing, assembling, fabricating, maintaining, and repairing piping
systems that transport liquids, gases, or other materials. This role requires expertise in reading
blueprints, using hand and power tools, and ensuring all work meets safety, quality, and code
standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine pipe installation
and repair specifications.
- Measure, cut, bend, thread, and assemble pipes using appropriate tools and machinery.
- Install and maintain piping systems for various applications, including water, gas, steam, and
chemical processes.
- Inspect piping systems for leaks, corrosion, and damage; perform maintenance and repairs as
needed.
- Ensure all work meets safety regulations, industry codes, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other trades to complete projects efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and maintenance schedules.
- Operate welding and soldering equipment safely when required.
- Follow all workplace safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment
(PPE).
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in pipefitting or related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a pipefitter or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of piping materials, tools, and installation techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Familiarity with welding, soldering, and brazing techniques.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to work in various positions, including confined spaces.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and practices.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in pipefitting, welding, or related trade.
- Experience with industrial, commercial, or residential piping systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment:
- Work may involve exposure to loud noise, heat, chemicals, and confined spaces.
- May require travel to different job sites.
- Physical labor including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
