Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
To ensure that all piping works are carried out in accordance with specifications to a high quality standard at minimum cost and within scheduled repair time.
To ensure an acceptable standard of Quality, Environmental, Health, Safety and Security Management System are maintained in accordance with recognized working practices and the Company’s QEHS&S Manual and Policy.
Apply and execute the requirements of ISO-9001:2015,14001:2015, 45001:2018, 30000:2009, 28000:2007, 20858:2007, 27001:2013, API Specification Q1 9th edition and ISPS Code and Management System Procedure (MSP). Ensure that Security management System for the Supply Chain & information security management systems are maintained.
Holds daily meeting with his Section Heads and Supervisors to check the progress of work, provide technical advice and decide job priorities.
On a daily basis, attends the Yard Management Operations meeting and provides the updated situations regarding on-going jobs. At this meeting discusses and agrees completion times for the jobs.
Advises Estimation Department regarding the feasibility of performing certain tasks related to tender from ship owners.
Discusses with Project Managers/Project Coordinators/Superintendents methods of work and priorities.
Puts the systems in place to establish proper control measures.
Regularly visits/inspects workshops, ships and Yard installations to check the progress of on-going jobs and give technical advice.
Responsible for planning and implementation of schedules as per given time frames and as per contractual obligations of the projects.
Manpower and materials planning for 3 months ahead for workload forecast prepared by Production Planning Unit.
Identifies non-quantified man-hours and always control them by keeping the required records.
Starts implementing FCAW welding method for pipes welding.
To control overtime and general expenses in accordance with workload situations.
Ensures that safe working practices are followed by his Department employees and that they are issued with and use personal protective equipment.
Responsible for any disciplinary action when required within his department according to the Company’s guidelines.
Assists HR Division in the final selection of candidates by assessing their technical suitability and competence.
Prepares and monitors the budget for his Department for manpower, materials, equipment and services.
Advises Procurement Department on technical specification for machinery and equipment for his Department.
Controls the work sub-contracted to lump-sum Contractors, monitor their performance, assists and guides them wherever required to achieve optimum efficiency and quality standards required by ISO requirements and Classification Societies.
Ensures that competency level meets the requirements in his Department.
Responsible for planning and implementing the Department’s training programs in coordination with HR Division.
Desired Candidate Profile
· University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering.
· Eight (8) years’ experience in a Ship Repair or shipbuilding Yard’s Piping workshop and On-board Ships.
Planning & organizing the work.
High level of leadership qualities, managerial skills, problem solving and decision-making ability.
Proactive, Self-motivated & Hardworking
Ability to deal with people at all levels.
Time managing focused, Trustworthy, honest & keeps confidentiality.
Ability to work under pressure.
Good Command in English (Spoken & Written)
Skilled with computer knowledge.
Independent correspondence ability.
Excellent interpersonal & communication skills. Teamwork & team builder
Stress Management.
Ability to initiate improvements in working methods with active subordinate participation.
Remarkable level of managerial ability to lead and guide a big team of personnel & supervisors
