Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Responsible for all work preparation activities in the department for various ship and rig repair projects using the ERP system, while collaborating with departments such as Commercial, Engineering, and Procurement to ensure timely, budget-compliant, and quality-driven project execution. Oversees and supervises piping work preparation in alignment with company objectives, evaluates work specifications, and prepares required information including man-hours, material requisitions, direct purchase requests, and inter-trade requests. Ensures all necessary information is communicated to relevant personnel for effective planning and execution, acts as a progress evaluator reporting regularly to the Section Head, and prepares work done reports and documentation for invoicing purposes
• Conduct site visits to assess work progress and ensure subcontractors comply with safety, quality, and environmental regulations within the defined budget, utilizing the ERP system.
• Liaise with subcontractors and vendors to define the scope of work, issue purchase orders as per
subcontractor’s agreements, and approve the final service receive note (SRN), using the ERP system.
• Monitor subcontractors' performance to ensure work is completed on time, within budget, and to the
required quality standards, using the ERP system.
• Manage all departmental operational reports and documents related to assigned projects, including
preparing the department final dossier upon project completion, using the ERP system.
• Make a detailed evaluation of repair specifications, itemize man-hour requirements, and requisition
materials, inter-trade involvement, direct purchases, and specialist involvement where necessary.
• Receive work lists from Project Manager/Section Head and instructions for jobs.
• Ensure efficient work preparation with a focus on cost-cutting and time-saving.
• Read specifications and prepare job lists for work preparation activities.
• Prepare initial man-hours for PPU and update twice a week.
• Prepare material availability and requisition as per specification and update materials list.
• Prepare IFA (Issued for approval) drawings based on identification and submit for client and project
manager approval. After approval, update the drawing version to IFC (Issued for construction) and release
for production. After work completion, produce AS BUILT version of the drawing and submit to QC for the
final package.
• Ensure repair worklists, drawings, change orders, and all relevant job information allocated to the
production team, including environmental considerations, are passed on time. Notify all concerned parties
of any changes in repair specifications or drawings, such as revision, addition, or cancellation, on time.
• Raise requisitions for direct purchase materials, general services, and material and consumables from
warehouse stock.
• Ensure construction materials are technically matching with the system requirements and correctly
described in the drawings. Follow all required standards and codes in accordance with project
specifications. Consult with QA/QC section if owners' specifications are unclear on standards.
• Check for change orders and update the MDR, PPU, JOB LIST, etc.
• Check subcontractor work done report and approval in feedback system.
• Cooperate with Commercial in the preparation of estimates.
• Ensure detailed job descriptions for all works done in the Department.
• Ensure permanent, up-to-date historical archives of works done are kept and available in the Department.
• Ensure compliance with QEHS & Security procedures and ISO 9001, API Spec Q1, ISO 14001, ISO 45001,
ISO 30000, ISO 28000, ISO 20858, ISO/IEC 27001 requirements.
• To ensure acceptable ISO standards of Quality, Environmental, OHSMS and Security Management System
an American Petroleum Institute (API) Q1 are maintained in accordance with recognized working practices
and the Company’s QEHS&S Manual and Policy.
• To ensure safe working practices are maintained at all times.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Desired Candidate Profile
• University Degree in Piping or a related field, or equivalent education and
Experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as Work Preparator in ship repair industry
or similar industry.
• Knowledge of ship/Rig repair processes, procedures, and standards.
• Familiarity with contract, subcontracting and procurement practices.
