Roles & Responsibilities

Role & responsibilities

1. Project Planning and Scheduling

  • Develop, update, and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6 in line with SABIC project controls requirements.
  • SAP (all modules) experience.
  • Establish Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and activity coding aligned with SABIC standards.
  • Integrate engineering and commissioning activities into a unified master schedule.
  • Prepare baseline schedules, look-ahead plans, and recovery schedules as needed.

2. Progress Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track project progress against baseline plans and highlight variances with analysis and recommendations.
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly progress reports in SABIC format.
  • Maintain S-curve, manpower histograms, and progress measurement systems.
  • Coordinate with discipline engineers and contractors to verify actual progress and forecast completion dates.

3. Coordination and Communication

  • Work closely with project teams, contractors, and SABIC representatives to ensure accurate schedule integration.
  • Conduct periodic schedule review meetings and communicate project risks or delays.
  • Support project management in decision-making by providing schedule impact analysis for changes or claims.

4. Risk and Change Management

  • Identify potential schedule risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Assess the impact of variations, design changes, and re-sequencing on overall project timelines.
  • Support claims and extension-of-time (EOT) analysis in coordination with the Contracts team.

5. Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure adherence to SABIC project controls guidelines, templates, and reporting systems.
  • Promote best practices in planning and scheduling across the project.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior planners and project control engineers.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Education: Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Civil / Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial).
  • Experience: Minimum 1015 years of experience in project planning and controls, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within SABIC or major petrochemical / EPC projects in KSA.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Expert in Primavera P6, MS Project, and MS Excel.
    • Expert in SAP (all modules)
    • Strong understanding of EPC project lifecycle (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning).
    • Familiar with SABIC project execution procedures and reporting standards
