Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
1.1 Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Shift Supervisor and general supervision of the Operations Manager, the Plant Operator is responsible for specific activities in the safe and environmentally sound operation of the plant that includes but are not limited to the operation of waste cranes, boilers, and turbine and assist the Control Room Operators in the daily operation of the plant in the field and makes regular plant inspections.
1.2 Job Responsibilities
A. Crane, Boiler & Turbine Operations
Performs daily routine inspections of assigned overhead crane(s) and fills out necessary log sheets according to procedures
Manipulates or depresses crane controls such as pedals, levers, or buttons to regulate the speed and direction of the crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal or signal instructions
Safely and efficiently shuts down and restarts production, safety and utility plant when required as per the plant operating procedures and parameters
Performs checks as required by the daily/weekly activities book, the monthly critical items checklist etc.
B. Field Operations & Plant Support
Assists the CRO in the daily operation of the plant in the field and makes regular plant inspections
Performs lockout and tagout of equipment in support of maintenance activities
Notifies Shift Supervisor of defective operating or material conditions
Performs additional tasks as directed by the Shift Supervisor, or his or her designee
Liaises closely with the maintenance team on the delivery of planned and unplanned maintenance activities
Manage all plant operation and emission data and maintain safety and efficiency in the plant and provide training to all subordinates
C. Maintenance Support & Troubleshooting
Performs troubleshooting on overhead cranes and reports all malfunctioning equipment/components through the issuance of work orders
Maintains cleanliness of equipment and an orderly work area around crane and hoist
D. HSE Responsibilities
Attend HSE Inspections, audits, assessments, and meetings
Conduct Risk identification/analysis/assessments
Reports promptly any breaches of HSE procedures to supervision/management
Actively participates in and promotes company health, safety and environmental campaigns, initiatives, policies and procedures, and ensures personal safety and that of colleagues at all times
Desired Candidate Profile
Provides support as part of the installation emergency response team
Note: Duties may vary depending on operational needs and shift schedules. The role requires flexibility and a proactive approach to plant operations & maintenance support.
1.3 Educational/Professional Qualifications/Training Certifications
Diploma in Instrumentation & Control, Electrical, Electronics, or related discipline
HSE accredited training qualifications
1.4 Job Experience and Software Competencies
3–5 years of experience in I&C maintenance, preferably in power generation, industrial plants, or Waste-to-Energy facilities
Hands-on experience with PLC I/O, SCADA/DCS systems, transmitters, analyzers, valves, MOVs, and field instrumentation
Knowledge of process control basics, electrical theory, ISA standards, NEC concepts, and emergency DC systems
Experience calibrating transmitters, analyzers, control valves, and MOVs
Familiarity with environmental controls, emissions instruments, and safety systems
Knowledge of HSE standards, plant safety requirements, and safe work practices
Proficient or familiar with systems used for I&C maintenance, monitoring, and reporting, for e.g. as below:
Maintenance & Asset Management: C
Control & Operations Systems:
Advanced Process Control (APC)
Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)
ERP / Work Order Systems: SAP PM, Oracle Maintenance, or equivalent
Productivity & Reporting: MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint
It is a plus if the candidate has skills in:
Basic PLC logic troubleshooting
Loop-checking and DCS/SCADA alarm review
Predictive maintenance systems (vibration, temperature, condition monitoring)
Instrument communication/configuration tools (HART communicator, portable calibrators)

1.6 Additional requirements
Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including on-call shifts
Knowledge of plant operation procedures, methods, and equipment
Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices and procedures
Language: English (intermediate level)
