Roles & Responsibilities

Role & Responsibilities for Motor Underwriter:

Portfolio Tracking and Management

- Evaluating portfolio at micro level (segment/location/vertical/channel etc) and combining the same with ground level intelligence to contribute towards devising strategy.

- Segment level pricing decisions and deviations.

- Improvement in sourcing mix of loss making channels.

- Framing strategies to control Loss ratios.

- Tracking competition pricing and benchmarking of business opportunities.

- Identifying new segments and locations to ensure profitable growth of motor business

Business Enabler

- Market share tracking and facilitating decisions to enhance the same in a profitable manner.

- Refining business proposals with an eye for underwriting controls and top line growth.

- Strategic customer evaluation using industry and internal data and direct discussion with the customer.

- Regular meetings with sales/channel partners across locations to evaluate new proposals from channels to enable profitable growth.

- Participating in pricing decisions with location level intelligence and competition benchmarking.

Business, Underwriting & Audit

- Ensuring sanity of data capture at source level which would aid in further underwriting process (CV usage, Vehicle information, customer information etc.)

- Periodic checking and reviews.

- Keeping track of commitments given to strategic customers at different levels.

- Periodic audit of policies sourced to identify any gaps with respect to process and wrong sourcing.

- Handling inter vertical differences in terms of pricing, cross selling etc.

Ideal Candidate should have:

Desired Candidate Profile

- Degree/certificate/post graduation in Insurance will have an advantage.

- 12+ years experience in the insurance industry of which the majority (8-10 years or more should be in technical functions like underwriting, pricing, audits).

- Motor & General insurance/P&C experience is preferred.

- Understanding of product development & portfolio audit is a must

- Should have experience of interacting with actuaries wrt understanding of underwriting s impact on pricing

- Should have experience of P&L buildups and related reporting.

- Should have an experience at audits & compliance role will be an added advantage
