Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Practical Nurse will provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care within a wellness-focused environment, supporting individuals through their treatment and recovery journey. Working under the supervision of Registered Nurses and clinical leadership, the Practical Nurse will assist in delivering safe, high-quality care while maintaining a calm, supportive, and therapeutic setting for patients.


Patient Care & Clinical Support

  • Provide safe and compassionate nursing care in accordance with care plans.

  • Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes to the supervising nurse or physician.

  • Assist patients with daily living activities while maintaining dignity and respect.

  • Support treatment plans for patients undergoing wellness, recovery, or rehabilitation programs.

  • Maintain accurate patient observations and nursing notes.


Medication Administration & Compliance

  • Administer medications as prescribed and within scope of practice.

  • Monitor patients for medication reactions and report concerns promptly.

  • Maintain accurate medication records and documentation.

  • Follow medication safety protocols and regulatory guidelines.

  • Support medication reconciliation processes during patient admission and discharge.


Patient Safety & Infection Control

  • Follow infection prevention and control policies at all times.

  • Ensure patient environments are clean, safe, and compliant with healthcare standards.

  • Report incidents, safety risks, or adverse events according to protocol.

  • Assist in implementing safety procedures within the clinical unit.

  • Participate in safety audits and quality improvement initiatives.


Patient Engagement & Therapeutic Environment

  • Support a calm, respectful, and therapeutic environment for patients.

  • Engage patients in daily routines and wellness-focused activities.

  • Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients when needed.

  • Encourage patient participation in therapy and recovery programs.

  • Maintain professional and empathetic communication with patients and families.


Documentation & Clinical Coordination

  • Maintain timely and accurate patient documentation in clinical systems.

  • Communicate effectively with registered nurses and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Support shift handovers to ensure continuity of care.

  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharge processes.

  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.


Professional Conduct & Team Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with nurses, physicians, therapists, and support staff.

  • Participate in training, clinical briefings, and professional development programs.

  • Adhere to organizational policies, healthcare regulations, and ethical standards.

  • Demonstrate accountability and professionalism in all clinical interactions.

  • Contribute positively to team culture and patient-centered care.

Desired Candidate Profile

Experience Requirement:

  • Minimum 2 years of progressive experience in healthcare operations

  • Diploma in Practical Nursing or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience following qualification, as required by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DOH), Healthcare Professional Qualification Requirements (PQR).

  • Must be eligible for DOH licensing as a Practical Nurse in Abu Dhabi.


Education Requirements:

  • Diploma in Practical Nursing or equivalent qualification from an accredited nursing institution.

  • Qualification must meet the standards outlined by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi under the Healthcare Professional Qualification Requirements (PQR).

  • Successful completion of a recognized nursing training program with clinical practice components.

  • Must be eligible for DOH licensing as a Practical Nurse in Abu Dhabi.

  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from a recognized provider is preferred.
