We are seeking a Pre-Sales Engineer – MEP (Bid and Tendering Support) The Pre Sales Engineer MEP – Bid and Tendering Support will join an established Bid Team and provide deep technical and commercial expertise for complex proposals and tenders. The role is responsible for leading the technical scope of assigned bids, developing accurate cost and quantity estimates, and supporting procurement evaluations to ensure competitive, compliant, and high-quality submissions.

 Job Profile

• Independently lead the MEP technical scope for the bids and tenders from concept to submission, ensuring solutions meet client requirements, project objectives, and timelines.
• Prepare and write technical content for bids, including design narratives, method statements, execution plans, compliance checklists, and value engineering proposals.
• Review tender documents and drawings, identify technical risks, and develop engineered solutions aligned with best practices, standards, and regulations.
• Support the Bid Team in understanding client needs and translating them into feasible, cost effective, and compliant technical and commercial solutions.
• Perform Quantity Take Offs (QTO), prepare and finalize priced Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and develop initial and detailed cost estimates, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
• Prepare and review the commercial aspects of bids, ensuring all scope items and services are included, pricing is robust, and submissions are compliant to avoid disqualification.
• Prepare tender documents and technical schedules, analyze and evaluate subcontractor/supplier offers, and recommend suitable procurement and contracting strategies.
• Serve as a focal point for MEP technical clarifications, pre bid queries, and client presentations in the SME’s area of expertise.
• Act as a key player for MEP related matters both internally within the team as well to external entities like OEMs, end users etc

Technical Competencies – MEP Presales Engineer

• Strong understanding of MEP building services (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting interfaces), with deeper competence in LV electrical systems: LV distribution (transformers, LV switchgear, MDB/SMDB/DB), final circuits, lighting and emergency lighting, small power, earthing and lightning protection, generators and UPS.

• Ability to read and interpret full MEP design packages – single line diagrams, load schedules, lighting/power layouts, earthing/lightning layouts, HVAC ducting and piping layouts, chilled/condensed water schematics, plumbing and drainage layouts, firefighting layouts, risers, and equipment schedules – and translate them into clear scope, quantities, and presales solution concepts.

• Proficiency in MEP Quantity Take Off (QTO) and preparation of detailed BOQs/BoMs for all MEP disciplines, including segregation of materials, labour, subcontracted works, testing/commissioning, and preliminaries, ensuring traceability from drawings/specifications to pricing sheets.

• Practical experience in MEP cost estimation and pricing, including development of initial (concept) and detailed (tender) cost estimates; ability to apply unit rates, productivity factors, and market benchmarks to generate competitive yet realistic prices.

• Understanding MEP integration with ELV/ICT/BMS from both technical and cost angles: power and control interfaces, metering, monitoring points, control I/O, and how responsibilities and costs should be allocated between MEP, ELV and ICT packages in bids.

Desired Candidate Profile

Candidate Profile

• Strong understanding of bid and tendering processes, cost estimation techniques, and procurement practices.

• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and tender documents and convert them into accurate quantities, costs, and technical proposals.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of clear technical documentation and presentations.

 Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechatronics; Electrical is preferred due to the LV and power-distribution focus. • Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering with strong, directly relevant MEP presales/estimation experience can be considered for mid-level roles.

 Experience

• 5–10 years of experience in MEP design, estimation, or presales/technical sales for building or infrastructure projects, with clear exposure to LV electrical systems plus HVAC and plumbing. • Proven track record in MEP tendering and estimation: reviewing design packages, performing QTOs, preparing BOQs, and developing prices for electrical and other MEP systems. • Experience working with consultants, contractors, and systems integrators on bids, value engineering exercises, and technical/commercial clarifications.

• Professional training or certifications in MEP design or estimation (e.g., recognized MEP estimation courses, cost engineering or quantity surveying certificates) are an advantage.
