Roles & Responsibilities

Downe House Muscat is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated and child-centred Primary Teacher (Female Only) to join our growing team for August 2026. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching, nurture student potential, and contribute to the continued development of our exciting and growing school.

You will join a dynamic team committed to outstanding teaching, curriculum innovation and holistic education.

Teaching and Learning

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons aligned with the English National Curriculum
  • Ensure excellent progress for all students, including EAL learners
  • Use assessment effectively to inform teaching and track achievement
  • Create a positive, purposeful and safe learning environment
  • Support the development of curriculum resources for a growing school

Additional Responsibilities

  • Build strong home school partnerships
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues and teaching assistants
  • Attend meetings, training and school events as required
  • Participate fully in safeguarding practices and training

Safeguarding

  • Comply with all safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications

  • Bachelor s Degree in Education or a relevant subject (E)
  • PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification (E)
  • Qualified Teacher Status (E)

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum two years of relevant teaching experience (E)
  • Strong knowledge of the English National Curriculum (E)
  • Experience teaching in an international or UK independent school setting (D)
  • Experience working with EAL learners (E)
  • Proven track record of strong student progress and high-quality teaching (E)
