Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary:

To manage and execute the end-to-end international procurement of fresh fruits and vegetables, with a focus on sea freight operations. The role involves sourcing, supplier negotiation, shipment coordination, and ensuring quality and timely delivery of perishable goods to meet business requirements.


Sourcing & Procurement

  • Identify and develop reliable suppliers and growers globally for fruits and vegetables.
  • Manage international procurement primarily via sea freight (reefer containers)_ Manage budget of AED 70-80Mn.
  • Negotiate prices, contracts, and payment terms to achieve optimal cost efficiency.
  • Monitor international commodity price trends, seasonality, and crop forecasts.

Logistics & Coordination

  • Plan and coordinate shipments with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and clearing agents.
  • Ensure compliance with import/export regulations, phytosanitary certificates, and documentation.
  • Track shipments and proactively resolve any delays, quality, or logistical issues.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (quality, production, finance, warehouse) for smooth delivery.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure supplier compliance with international food safety standards and certifications (GlobalG.A.P, HACCP, etc.).
  • Work closely with quality control teams to maintain required product standards.
  • Evaluate supplier performance regularly and recommend improvements or alternatives.

Market & Supplier Intelligence

  • Maintain knowledge of global supply markets, shipping routes, and freight cost fluctuations.
  • Forecast supply-demand trends and align procurement planning with business requirements.
  • Build strong supplier relationships and identify opportunities for strategic partnerships.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Agriculture, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of procurement experience, in fresh produce (fruits & vegetables).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (English mandatory; additional languages an advantage).
  • Highly skilled in identifying high quality produce of fruits and vegetables.
  • Knowledge of air imports will be an added advantage
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems (Microsoft 365 dynamics) etc.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, seasonal, and dynamic market environment.
