Roles & Responsibilities

The Role

The Procurement Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring the procurement schedule and planning deliverables for an EPCM project. This role ensures that all procurement activities are aligned with the overall project execution plan, engineering deliverables, and construction requirements. The Procurement Planner works closely with engineering, contracts, logistics, and construction teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment to meet project milestones.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Procurement Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain the project's procurement schedule in coordination with engineering and project controls.
  • Define procurement strategies, long-lead item lists, and key material milestones.
  • Track procurement activities from requisition to delivery, ensuring adherence to project timelines.
  • Integrate procurement schedules with engineering and construction schedules to support overall project progress.

Coordination & Interface Management

  • Collaborate with engineering, contracts, logistics, and construction teams to align procurement deliverables with project needs.
  • Participate in weekly and monthly progress meetings to provide procurement status updates.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to monitor manufacturing and delivery progress.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Develop and maintain procurement progress curves, KPIs, and status reports.
  • Identify potential delays or bottlenecks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Support project controls in forecasting cost and schedule impacts related to procurement activities.

Systems & Documentation

  • Maintain procurement data in ERP or project management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, SmartPlant, or Prism).
  • Ensure all procurement documentation complies with project and client requirements.
  • Support audit and close-out activities by ensuring accurate and complete procurement records.

Desired Candidate Profile

Expected:

Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Engineering, Business, or related discipline.

Minimum 8-12 years of procurement planning experience, preferably on large-scale EPCM or EPC projects in oil & gas, mining, energy, or infrastructure.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in scheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Experience with procurement modules in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of international procurement, logistics, and incoterms.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
