Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Work with the Product safety and Compliance Manager to provide a high-quality service to the company’s business operations in Africa, CIS and Middle East countries. The position holder will provide product legislation and regulation support and assistance to the relevant departments, research and update regulation library, update certificates and licenses. The position holder aims to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, and support applying required compliance to relevant authorities.
Strategic and Planning
· Execute the Product Safety and Compliance strategy in line with overall Product Safety and Compliance function and SMEF’s strategies.
Policy, Procedures, Process and Systems
· Ensure the compliance of Product Safety and Compliance policies, systems, processes, procedures, and controls so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service in a consistent manner.
Compliance
· Support the implementation and adherence to compliance frameworks and programs within the Product Safety and Compliance department, ensuring alignment with local and international laws, regulations, and industry standards.
· Contribute to the development and maintenance of reporting mechanisms to monitor risk and compliance issues within Product Safety and Compliance and collaborate with the team in escalating critical matters to executive leadership, while providing input and recommendations for resolution.
B. Core Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance
· Guide sales, logistics, export control, and other relevant functions on regulations and protocols.
· Proactively advise on regional regulations and compliance by liaising with relevant government and industry authorities.
· Address inquiries regarding regulations, standards, and compliance.
· Offer compliance-related insights on product evaluation.
· Maintain an up-to-date regulation library for national and international markets.
Service Provider Management
· Review product requirements before manufacturing and ensure alignment with factories.
· Streamline regulatory affairs with factories, distributors, and governmental authorities to ensure alignment.
· Resolve technical matters with Notified Bodies.
· Manage service providers' quotes and conduct the necessary research to obtain the best quotes.
· Review regulations and communicate updates to factories and relevant stakeholders.
· Coordinate with distributors for efficient registrations and product requirements.
Legislation and Regulation Management
· Coordinate with relevant functions and stakeholders to ensure practices are implemented according to national and international regulatory obligations and review compliance reports to ensure continuous improvement and proper mitigation of associated risks.
- Perform continuous quality assurance activities and provide needed recommendations for improvements and policy amendments.
Compliance Trainings
· Assist Product Safety and Compliance Manager in preparing documents and materials for compliance trainings.
This includes assisting by communicating with service providers to train employees on GSO, TBT, WTO regulations.
- Trainings on trade laws and customs clearance-related matters.

Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelor's degree in engineering, or related manufacturing disciplines is required.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in Compliance and/or Conformity Assessment.
Skills Required:
· Good knowledge in quality systems, standards and WTO technical regulations and trade requirement.
· Fluency in English is a must.
· Fluency in Arabic and/or French is an advantage.
· Good communication and negotiation skills is required.
Computer fluency and technical skills is required (Word, Excel, etc.)
