Roles & Responsibilities

Job Purpose: As a Production Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing efficient production processes and procedures, leading productivity improvements with project-based activities, including improving quality and safety, and reducing waste and operating costs. Manage KPIs and ensure preventative actions are taken to maximize success. Work on many phases or sub-tasks of projects or entire projects of moderate complexity, with results impacting project completion. Work under general supervision, reviewed at project milestones and/or on completion by Senior Management.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Strategy & Planning: Implement production strategies, annual forecasts, and scheduling to meet company objectives.
  • Process Optimization: Identify bottlenecks, propose improvements, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety. Design new systems and processes and provide facilities & methods to ensure the cost-effective integration of new products or for the improvement of existing ones into manufacturing operations.
  • Resource & Team Management: Train, evaluate, and maintain optimal manpower levels; oversee daily workflows and departmental schedules. Act as an advisory member of the product development team, providing information and guidance on the availability and cost of supplies and materials.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with stores, planning, finance, sales, and vendors to ensure smooth operations and cost-effective sourcing.
  • Performance & Quality Control: Establish KPIs, monitor production metrics, ensure compliance with standards, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Technical & Engineering Support: Design systems, fixtures, and tooling for assembly tasks, assist with shop floor layout and cells designs; oversee installation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Prepare production documentation, reports, and presentations; maintain statistical and financial records.
  • Supplier & Vendor Management: Monitor performance and support tender processes for equipment and materials.
  • Problem Solving & Innovation: Conduct root cause analysis, FMEAs, and implement corrective actions; stay updated on engineering trends.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices throughout production processes.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • BSc. Mechanical Engineer with 2 to 4 years of experience, preferably in a similar position and Industry.
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of design and production costs to include waste, downtime, scrap, and re-work.
  • Significant work experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably in steel structure manufacturing.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Production Scheduling.NAVIS-WORKS, ERP system, Microsoft-Project & Pramivera-P6.
  • Tasks require attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and drive to succeed,
