Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Production Operations
- Plan, schedule, and oversee all pressure vessel fabrication activities from cutting/fabrication to testing/shipping
- Optimize production workflows to meet delivery deadlines while maintaining quality standards
- Manage capacity planning, resource allocation, and bottleneck resolution
- Ensure adherence to ASME Section VIII Div. 1/2, API 510/650, PED, and relevant codes
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop 50+ personnel including supervisors, welders, fitters, NDT technicians, and helpers
- Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and training programs
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
Quality & Safety Compliance
- Ensure all vessels meet client specifications, regulatory requirements, and quality standards
- Collaborate with QA/QC team on weld procedure qualifications (WPS/PQR), radiography, hydrotesting, and inspection sign-offs
- Maintain zero LTI safety record; enforce PPE, hot work, confined space, and lifting protocols
Budget & Cost Management
- Own production budget; control labor, material, overhead, and rework costs
- Drive cost-reduction initiatives through lean manufacturing and waste elimination
- Monitor KPIs: OEE, on-time delivery%, first-pass yield, cost per pound/kg
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Engineering on design-for-manufacturability andDFM feedback
- Coordinate with Procurement for material availability (plates, forgings, fittings)
- Partner with Sales/Project Management on realistic lead times and customer commitments
Desired Candidate Profile
Education
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Metallurgical/Industrial Engineering; MBA or Master's preferred
Experience
10+ years in pressure vessel fabrication (minimum 5 years in supervisory/management role)
Technical Skills
Deep knowledge of ASME BPVC Section VIII, U/RU/U2 stamps, welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, SAW), NDT methods, hydro/pneumatic testing
Leadership
Proven track record managing large fabrication teams, union/non-union environments
Systems
Proficient in ERP/MRP (SAP, Oracle), MS Project, AutoCAD viewers, Lean/Six Sigma
Certifications
ASME Certified Inspector, CWI (AWS), or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt highly preferred
Other
Strong communication, problem-solving, ability to work in fast-paced shop environment
