Job title: Production Optimisation Engineer
Location: Basra, Iraq
Contract type: International (expatriate) assignment. Fixed-term, 28/28 rotational contract.
Language requirements: Upper intermediate level of English
At Eni, we are looking for a Production Optimisation Engineer within the Zubair Field Operating Division in Basra, Iraq. Reporting to the Well Operations Manager/Well Engineering Section Head, you will be responsible for assisting with pre-job planning, pre-job quality assurance and control, field execution, and post-job documentation for all Production Optimisation Operations, including (but not limited to) hydraulic fracturing, matrix acidising, and gas/water shut-off during operations. It is strongly recommended that you have experience in hydraulic fracturing and matrix stimulation. In addition, good knowledge of nodal analysis tools, as well as a basic understanding of drilling and completion fluid properties and guidelines for selection, is required.
Your employment contract will be managed by Eni International Resources Ltd (EIRL).
Main responsibilities:
- Evaluate the feasibility of production optimisation interventions.
- Carry out pre-job planning, programme preparation, and post-job reporting for production optimisation operations (including hydraulic fracturing, matrix stimulation, and gas/water shut-off).
- Follow up on operations at the rig site and provide on-site supervision as required.
- Prepare final reports on all well testing, completion, and workover activities.
- Provide detailed cost analysis during the planning phase, execution, and post-job stages.
- Support the preparation of requisitions to order necessary materials and services for well testing, completions, and workover.
- Assist in tender preparation and evaluation, supplier and service company selection.
- Prepare regulatory forms related to well testing, completion, and workover.
- Maintain files of contractors' equipment and procedures to ensure compliance with company standards.
- Ensure well testing, completion, and workover procedures comply with government regulations.
- Liaise with Reservoir and Production departments in the preparation of procedures.
Skills and experience required:
- Engineering or science degree.
- IWCF LEVEL 4 valid
- Certifications in completion and workover technologies may be required.
- Significant oil and gas experience in production optimisation activities.
- Recognised throughout the company and industry as a technical expert.
- Specialised training in Production Optimisation Technologies and HSE.
Technical knowledge:
- Completion Activities: Completion and workover operations, dual completion, intelligent completions, perforating techniques, advanced completion, HP/HT completion, simultaneous production.
- Well Testing: Well testing (oil), well testing (gas).
- Artificial Lift: Gas lift, submersible pumps.
- Rigless Operations: Coiled tubing, slickline/wireline.
- Production Optimisation Activities: Well matrix stimulation (acid), well hydraulic fracturing, completion for frac/stimulation, stimulation job fluids design and engineering.
- Data Management and Computer Literacy.
