Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and controlling all production activities to ensure that products are manufactured on schedule, to specified quality standards, cost targets, and safety requirements. This role is key in bridging management directives with shop-floor execution and ensuring smooth operations in the wooden bakery manufacturing process.

Principal Accountabilities

Production & Planning

  • Develop and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production plans in accordance with targets, demand forecasts, and orders.
  • Allocate tasks, manpower, and equipment to different production lines to optimize output and resource utilization.
  • Monitor production progress continuously, identify bottlenecks, and adjust schedules or reassign resources as needed.
  • Liaise with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure raw materials, consumables, and spare parts are available when required.

Quality Assurance & Control

  • Ensure that all output meets required quality standards, specifications, and industry norms.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of production processes, identifying deviations and implementing corrective actions.
  • Work closely with the Quality department to detect and resolve non-conformities.
  • Promote continuous improvement in product quality, reducing waste, defects, rework, and returns.

Team Leadership & Personnel Management

  • Supervise, coach, mentor, and motivate production staff (operators, technicians, line workers).
  • Conduct training on work procedures, safety, machine operations, quality awareness, and best practices.
  • Monitor performance, provide feedback, and support development of team members.
  • Assist in recruitment, selection, and onboarding of production staff as needed.
  • Handle shift supervision, attendance, and workforce scheduling to ensure adequate staffing.

Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)

  • Enforce compliance with safety policies, procedures, PPE use, and environmental standards.
  • Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and ensure immediate corrective actions for any hazards.
  • Facilitate safety training, toolbox talks, and promote a culture of zero accidents.
  • Investigate incidents or near misses, prepare reports, and propose actions to prevent recurrence.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate production records, logs, shift reports, KPIs, and performance dashboards.
  • Analyze production data (yield, throughput, downtime, scrap, OEE, etc.), generate insights and recommendations.
  • Prepare periodic reports and present performance, challenges, and improvement plans to senior management.
  • Update and manage standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process documentation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a relevant field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 3 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 1 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Experience with wood manufacturing, woodworking, or bakery/food process lines is a strong advantage.
  • Familiarity with production planning, workflow scheduling, and manufacturing systems (ERP, MES) is preferred.

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, tools, and maintenance.
  • Understanding of quality control systems, standards, and inspection methods.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, KPIs, and production metrics (OEE, throughput, yield, scrap).
  • Good computer literacy: MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), ERP/MRP systems.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, value stream mapping, etc., is a plus.
