Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will engage in teaching, research, mentoring, and administrative activities and is expected to communicate the link between design theory and design practice in both his teaching and research approach. She/he will teach a variety of courses, initiate and supervise master and potentially PhD projects in the field of practice-led design research but also in design history and cultural history. The successful candidate will actively promote graduate and undergraduate research, and attract externally funded projects in any chosen area of design interest. The position includes engagement in academic collaborations with partner universities.
Requirements, competences and skills:
Doctorate/PhD or equivalent quali cation or evidence of conducted research.
Teaching and research record in at least two of the following areas: strategic design, design management and branding; eco-social design / sustainable design; design for communities; design for creative industries; design studies; and design for businesses and organizations.
Understanding of the implications of design research and practices within social, cultural, economic, scientific or technological contexts.
Ability to stay up to date with current regional and global design discourses and conceptual approaches.
Understanding of the expanding radius of the design field into areas and sectors such as education, health care, community and participatory design, and more.
Curiosity about latest technological developments such as AI tool for design research and practice and its ethical and practical implications.
Strong commitment to progressive design education principles regarding self-organized and responsible design study.
Ability to work well with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds, professional experiences, and aesthetic sensibilities.
Ability to structure and define project goals to promote and motivate positive experiences.
Excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills in English, the language of instruction.
Good management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines, communicate effectively, and motivate.
An interest in working collaboratively within the GUC and with external partners to develop joint projects.
