Professor of History and Geography (permanent position)


Description: LFBI ICE is an international institution offering the French international baccalaureate curriculum with an American option, and the IBDP in two languages: French and English.

Qualifications:

Professional degree or postdoctoral diploma for the teaching of history and geography at the secondary level French curriculum

Proven expertise in the field of teaching, flexibility in teaching methods and ability to focus learning on the l ve

Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills, professional dealings with parents, English, and the same in French would be an asset.

Ability to set and maintain high standards for self and students

Ability to present teaching in an interesting, creative and exciting way

Volunteers to teach two school levels

Experience:

Secondary school history and geography teaching experience

Experience in a French school abroad would be a plus

Knowledge of the French national education system and programmes would be a plus.

Language(s):

French native. My knowledge of English is desirable, given the bilingual environment of the school.

Responsibilities:

To design and implement inquiry-based learning experiences, in accordance with the history and geography curriculum, and to encourage critical thinking.

To facilitate the practice of research and projects to strengthen students' understanding and develop their knowledge.

Provide personalized support and guidance to students to help them achieve their academic goals and succeed in the Program.

Collaborate with other teachers in the Programme to ensure interdisciplinary links and coherence between subjects.

Support students in their preparation for internal evaluations, including the internal evaluation (IA) component.

Engage students in discussions on policy considerations.

Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, valuing diversity and encouraging respect and understanding among students.


Skills:

Prepare and deliver courses in accordance with the curriculum, respecting the recommendations of the KHDA

Knowledge of current trends and developments in the teaching of history and geography.

Ability to effectively integrate technology into teaching and learning activities, including the use of digital resources and online platforms to support student learning.

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues and other members of the school community.

Commitment to continuous professional development and reflection to continuously improve teaching practices and student outcomes.

Adaptability and flexibility to meet the diverse needs of students and the changing circumstances of the educational environment.

Proficiency in English, both oral and written, to communicate effectively with students and colleagues in an English teaching environment.

Understanding of the Program's evaluation principles, including the use of criterion-based evaluation and evaluation criteria.

regular evaluation of student progress and practice of positive evaluation, using various pedagogical practices, including differentiated teaching.

Regular updating of the class register and digital notebook.

Preparing students for exams, ensuring that they meet high standards.

Participation in pedagogical coordination meetings, collaborating with colleagues.

Contribution to the development of pedagogical materials and proposal of innovative pedagogical projects.

Implementation of the institution's policies and defense of its educational values.

Demonstration of subject competencies, flexibility in teaching style, and the ability to focus learning on the l ve.

Dedicate additional time to meetings, workshops, staff development activities and required training.

Presentation of teaching in an interesting, creative and exciting way, while maintaining high standards for oneself and for students.
