This is an expedited recruitment process open only to:

Context

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) and the direct supervision of the Head of Protection (PXD) unit, the Programme Coordinator (Counter-Trafficking) will work with government authorities and technical partners to formulate protection policies for victims of trafficking and smuggled migrants. Activities will be carried out in coordination with the United Nations (UN), established humanitarian and development strategies and government counterparts. They will also be responsible and accountable for developing and promoting IOM's Counter-Trafficking and Counter Smuggling strategies with a focus on raising awareness on irregular migration.

Education

  • Master s degree in Development, Political or Social Sciences, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience; or,
  • University degree in the above fields with seven years of relevant professional experience.

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience

  • Advance knowledge of and experience in activities/projects related to human rights, migration management and referral mechanisms of countering human trafficking (prevention, protection and prosecution);
  • Project development and management experience and sound knowledge of financial and administrative management and effective resources management and mobilization skills; and,
  • Experience in establishing and developing liaison with governmental and non-governmental institutions, as well as other sectorial actors, such as international organizations, donors, etc.

Skills

  • Highly developed writing and verbal communication skills.

Languages

IOM s official languages are English, French and Spanish. All staff members are required to be fluent in one of the three languages.

For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of Arabic, French, and/or another official UN Language (Chinese, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments
