Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Project Engineer – False Ceiling & Gypsum manages the complete engineering and site delivery of false ceiling systems, gypsum partitions, and associated painting works on interior fit-out and building construction projects in the UAE/GCC. This role oversees technical execution, programme compliance, quality, and subcontractor coordination.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all false ceiling, gypsum partition, and drylining installation works on assigned projects from mobilisation to handover.

  • Review and implement approved shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements for all ceiling and partition works.

  • Coordinate false ceiling and gypsum works with MEP, structural, and finishing teams to prevent clashes and ensure programme alignment.

  • Manage subcontractors and direct labour teams; monitor productivity, quality, and HSE compliance.

  • Prepare and track material submittals, RFIs, and technical queries for ceiling and gypsum systems.

  • Conduct quality inspections at all stages including substrate preparation, grid installation, board fixing, taping, and finishing.

  • Monitor project programme and prepare weekly progress reports.

  • Coordinate painting works specification compliance including surface preparation, primer, and top coat applications.

  • Liaise with client and consultant teams on technical approvals, inspections, and snag close-out.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Interior Design.

  • 3–10 years of project engineering experience in false ceiling, gypsum, and painting works in UAE/GCC.

  • Strong knowledge of ceiling system types: Armstrong, USG, Knauf, and custom feature ceilings.

  • Good understanding of gypsum partition systems, drylining, and acoustic wall assemblies.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for drawing interpretation; MS Project or Primavera for programme management.
