Roles & Responsibilities

Reports To: Executive Vice President / Project Director / General Manager Work Location: Madhina Job Purpose: To effectively plan, execute, monitor, and deliver 380kV Overhead Transmission Line (OHTL) projects in accordance with client specifications (SEC/NG), contractual requirements, and company objectives — ensuring safety, quality, cost control, and timely completion. Key Responsibilities: 1. Project Planning & Organization • Review project specifications, drawings, and contract documents to prepare the execution strategy. • Develop a detailed project schedule, identifying key milestones and critical paths using Primavera (P6) or MS Project. • Prepare project budgets, resource plans, and manpower histograms. • Plan tower spotting, survey, and geotechnical activities in coordination with engineering and survey teams. • Ensure timely approvals of design, route alignment, and tower schedules from client and consultant. 2. Engineering & Technical Coordination • Coordinate with the engineering department for approval of IFC drawings, method statements, and construction procedures. • Review and verify design and fabrication drawings of transmission towers, foundations, and accessories. • Ensure proper interface management between civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines. • Verify tower foundations (pad & chimney, pile, raft, or rock anchor type) as per soil conditions. • Ensure compliance with SEC/NG material and technical standards (SEC, NG-SPEC). 3. Procurement & Material Control • Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams for timely delivery of towers, conductors, OPGW, insulators, and hardware fittings. • Approve material inspection requests (MIR) and ensure materials meet technical specifications. • Monitor material utilization and control wastage through proper inventory management. • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors for manufacturing, inspection, and delivery schedules. 4. Construction & Site Management • Supervise and control all construction activities including tower foundation, erection, stringing, and testing. • Plan and manage multiple work fronts with proper resource allocation and productivity tracking. • Ensure compliance with work permits, site safety requirements, and environmental guidelines. • Monitor progress daily and weekly, identifying risks and implementing recovery plans when delays occur. • Ensure correct stringing sag and tension, phase clearances, and tower alignment are achieved as per design. • Ensure quality inspections at all stages and coordinate for client inspections and approvals. 5. Quality Assurance & Safety • Implement and maintain quality control systems at site in line with ISO and client standards. • Review inspection test plans (ITPs) and ensure proper documentation for QA/QC records. • Conduct regular HSE audits, toolbox talks, and safety meetings with site teams. • Enforce strict compliance with safety policies during hot-line work, stringing, and tower erection. • Ensure incident/near-miss reporting, corrective actions, and continual safety improvement. 6. Project Control & Reporting • Monitor project progress against baseline schedule and update deviations. • Conduct regular internal and client progress review meetings. • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports including manpower, equipment, and financial summaries. • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as progress, cost, productivity, and safety statistics. • Maintain project documentation and correspondence in accordance with ISO/project management standards. 7. Financial & Contractual Management • Review and manage project cash flow, cost control, and budget compliance. • Evaluate and prepare variation claims, extension of time (EOT) requests, and change orders. • Support the commercial team in verifying subcontractor bills and progress certificates. • Ensure timely invoicing to client and follow-up for approvals and payments. 8. Team Leadership & Development • Lead multidisciplinary project teams including engineers, supervisors, and foremen. • Assign clear roles, responsibilities, and performance targets to site staff. • Mentor junior engineers and ensure continuous skill development. • Promote teamwork, accountability, and safety culture among all site personnel. 9. Client, Consultant & Stakeholder Relations • Serve as the primary interface with client (SEC/NG), consultant, and other authorities. • Address site issues, design clarifications, and technical queries promptly. • Manage project correspondence, meeting minutes, and approvals efficiently. • Maintain positive relationships and ensure client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle. 10. Testing, Commissioning & Handover • Supervise and coordinate final inspection, line testing, and commissioning activities. • Ensure punch list items are closed before handover. • Prepare as-built drawings, final documentation, and operation & maintenance (O&M) manuals. • Facilitate final acceptance (FAC) and closeout of project in accordance with contract requirements. Qualifications & Experience: Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering (Master’s degree preferred). Experience: • Minimum 10–15 years of experience in Overhead Transmission Line Projects (380kV and above). • At least 5 years in a Project Manager capacity with direct client (SEC/NG) 380 KV projects. • Proven experience managing large-scale EPC transmission projects involving tower erection, stringing, and commissioning. Technical Proficiency: • Knowledge of SEC/NG standards (STS, SES, NG-SPEC). • Proficient in project management tools (Primavera P6, MS Project). • Familiar with design principles, surveying, soil testing, and foundation construction methods. • Strong understanding of safety and quality standards (ISO 9001/14001/45001). Certifications (Preferred): • PMP® / PRINCE2® Certification • NEBOSH / OSHA / ISO Internal Auditor Certification • SEC/NG Project Management Approval Core Competencies: • Leadership & Decision-Making • Planning & Execution Control • Communication & Client Relations • Risk Management & Problem Solving • Team Building & Motivation • Cost, Time & Quality Control
