Roles and Responsibilities

1. Project Planning & Coordination

  • Lead overall planning, scheduling, and execution of civil works related to the data center construction project.
  • Develop detailed project execution plans (PEP), timelines, and resource plans in coordination with MEP, structural, and architectural teams.
  • Define scope, milestones, and deliverables aligned with project specifications and client requirements.
  • Coordinate with design, procurement, and engineering teams to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to timelines.

2. Technical Oversight

  • Review and approve civil design drawings, construction methodologies, and shop drawings ensuring compliance with Saudi Building Codes, Aramco standards (if applicable), and local authority norms.
  • Ensure civil works meet data center standards such as Uptime Institute Tier certifications and ASHRAE guidelines for critical facility design.
  • Supervise and ensure implementation of structural works (foundations, superstructure, flooring, RCC, finishing, waterproofing, etc.) as per design intent.

3. Quality & Compliance

  • Implement and monitor QA/QC procedures for civil works ensuring materials, workmanship, and documentation meet project standards.
  • Conduct site inspections and audits with QA/QC engineers to ensure quality benchmarks are consistently met.
  • Ensure full compliance with KSA safety regulations, Civil Defense requirements, and municipality approvals.

4. Project Execution & Monitoring

  • Oversee daily site operations, manpower deployment, and progress reporting for civil works.
  • Coordinate with MEP, ELV, and HVAC project managers to ensure seamless interface and integration across disciplines.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and delays through proactive planning and corrective actions.
  • Review and certify contractor progress bills, variation claims, and project change requests.

5. Cost & Resource Management

  • Manage project budgets, cost control, and forecasting for civil scope of work.
  • Approve procurement schedules, material submittals, and vendor invoices related to civil packages.
  • Ensure optimum utilization of resources (labor, material, equipment) within allocated budgets.

6. Stakeholder & Client Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for client representatives, consultants, and contractors on civil-related matters.
  • Conduct progress review meetings, report on schedule adherence, risks, and mitigation plans.
  • Ensure alignment between client expectations, engineering deliverables, and site execution.

7. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain all civil project documentation including daily reports, inspection requests (IRs), material approvals (MARs), NCRs, and as-built records.
  • Prepare and present weekly/monthly progress reports and dashboards to management and clients.
  • Support in preparation of handover documentation and project close-out reports.

8. Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement on site.
  • Coordinate with HR and Admin for workforce planning, mobilization, and performance evaluation.
