Roles & Responsibilities

The position will support the MERL team by contributing to data monitoring, collection, entry, and analysis. The selected candidate will be responsible for following up on project forms completed by learners at the centers, in coordination with facilitators and in close collaboration with the MERL team to ensure accurate data and high-quality follow-up.

Scope and Responsibilities

This position plays a key role in supporting the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) team by contributing to data management, system development, and capacity building. The role involves close coordination with project teams, partners, and facilitators across multiple centers. The volunteer will engage in both internal and external communication, ensuring timely data collection, accurate reporting, and effective follow-up to maintain the quality and integrity of project information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Collection and Analysis: Responsible for collecting quantitative and qualitative data related to project activities, monitoring implementation progress against work plans, and ensuring accurate data entry and analysis using appropriate monitoring tools.
  • M&E System Development: Collaborate with the MERL team in developing and improving monitoring and evaluation tools, templates, and procedures aligned with project indicators and reporting requirements.
  • Capacity Building: Support the delivery of capacity-building sessions, provide guidance, and conduct follow-up with partners and fellow volunteers to strengthen M&E practices.
  • Tool Design and Implementation: Assist in designing and implementing data collection tools and surveys using KOBO and other relevant platforms.
  • Coordination and Communication: Communicate with facilitators in the centers, as needed, to validate and verify collected data.
  • Field Visits: Conduct field visits to centers to support data verification, observe activities, and ensure proper documentation.
  • Administrative and Logistical Support: support in phone calls, documentation, filing, and other basic office tasks as required.
  • Team Support: Collaborate with the project team in the field to facilitate smooth implementation of project activities.
  • Other Duties: Perform any other tasks assigned by the line manager in support of project objectives.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Works under the technical supervision of the MERL Department and Najahna team and in coordination with the project team to identify, track, and collect missing data from NFE centers in alignment with the project s monitoring framework.
  • Responsible for supporting the MERL team in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of project data through regular follow-up with facilitators and MoE focal points.
  • Contributes to the development and use of monitoring tools and templates to facilitate data collection, entry, and verification in collaboration with the MERL team.
  • Supports communication and coordination between the project team, MERL department, and the Education Pillar to ensure alignment in data management and follow-up activities.
  • Ensures timely collection and validation of learners forms (Baseline, Endline, and Follow-Up) in coordination with facilitators and MoE, maintaining adherence to established quality standards.
  • Participates in data entry, cleaning, and analysis under the guidance of the MERL department to ensure that collected information is properly consolidated and reported.
  • Conducts field visits, when required, to centers to verify collected data, observe project activities, and provide on-site support to facilitators.
  • Supports the preparation of progress updates, summaries, and reports related to data collection status and challenges, providing inputs for both MERL and project reporting requirements.
  • Assists in capacity building efforts led by the MERL team by supporting orientation sessions for facilitators and other stakeholders involved in data entry and tracking.
  • Contributes to maintaining effective documentation and filing systems for all project data, ensuring accessibility and proper archiving for future reference.

Dealing with Problems:

  • Identifies challenges and gaps in data collection or reporting in coordination with the MERL team and project staff, and contributes to developing practical solutions.
  • Applies Plan International s data management standards and approaches to strengthen quality assurance and ensure consistency across centers.
  • Escalates issues affecting data collection or quality to the MERL focal point or line manager in a timely manner.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Maintains strong coordination and communication with the MERL team, project staff, MoE focal points, and facilitators to ensure smooth implementation of data-related activities.
  • Provides regular updates to the MERL department on progress made in tracking and collecting missing data.
  • Contributes to a culture of accountability and learning by sharing feedback, lessons learned, and recommendations to enhance data quality and project effectiveness.

Desired Candidate Profile

Bachelor s degree in education, social sciences, statistics, or related field.

  • Experience in data collection, entry, and analysis.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation principles and tools.
  • Ability to use digital data collection platforms (e.g., KOBO, ODK).
  • Strong coordination and communication skills with MoE, facilitators, and partners.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic data reporting.
  • Good command of Arabic and English.

Desirable

  • Experience in education or non-formal education projects.
  • Familiarity with Plan International M&E systems.
  • Experience coordinating with MoE or local facilitators.
  • Knowledge of data quality assurance and basic analysis.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, multicultural environment.

Najahna project through Pillar one- Education conducting several activities in 151 MOE Learning and teaching centers through the four governments: Amman, Irbid, Zarqa, and Mafraq related to the NFE programme.
