Roles & Responsibilities

Expected:

  • University degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of Iraq Energy Operators and Service Providers' contracting relationships.
  • Minimum of 20 years experience in managing customer relationships, either in a Business Development or Operational capacity, in Iraq.
  • Understanding of Business Development techniques, commercial and technical risk management.
  • Understanding of the market, specifically the Operating Companies in Iraq
  • Having spent time within an Iraq IOC or NOC company or affiliate is advantageous

  • Fluent in verbal and written English.
  • Ability to converse in Arabic is a must.

Wood is recruiting for a Projects Lead to join its Iraq business unit focusing on contributing to developing and managing Wood s strategic relationships with International Oil Companies (IOCs) and local Oil and Gas organizations in Iraq. This role is a full-time on-site role in Basra, Iraq with travel requirement.

Job Objectives:

The Projects Lead, based in Iraq, is responsible for developing and managing Wood s strategic relationships with International Oil Companies (IOCs) and local Oil and Gas organizations, and for actively leading the identification and pursuit of strategic growth opportunities that directly contribute to Wood's expansion goals within the Iraq Energy Market.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Execution

  • Provide support to our Iraq business through building trusted relationships with Operating Companies within the Iraq Energy Market.
  • Lead the pursuit of strategic growth opportunities and new scopes of work to secure new contracts.
  • Support the establishment and marketing of our services to existing and new customers, specifically those with links to foreign investment.
  • Liaise closely with the Wood business development team to provide insight and knowledge to grow the business in Iraq under the direction of our strategic business execution plans
  • Regular engagements with existing key customers in Iraq to build the Wood brand in Iraq, collate and report on key market trends, customer strategies and key stakeholder management insights.
  • Support all Iraq-based BD activities, understanding growth and broadening opportunities in Wood's core services.
  • Work closely with Operations and manage account-level engagements to grow Wood's business in Iraq.

Leadership

  • Is an advocate and role model for ethical behaviours and compliance with applicable laws and policies.
  • Teaches and empowers others to make decisions within established parameters
  • Support HSSE leadership to ensure that HSSE and quality management issues are proactively addressed across all Iraq Contracts.
  • Drive good practices, including corporate initiatives, across all areas of work.
