Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
i. Full working knowledge of protection co ordination studies through EDSA or similar software is required.
ii. Experience in protection system calculation for large interconnected system of utilities covering generation, transmission and distribution is required.
iii. Determine optimal protection system and settings on all infrastructure power station and transmission/substation projects, including oil, gas and water projects.
iv. Co ordinate analysis and determine optimal protection system and settings on all infrastructure power station and transmission/substation facilities, including OIL AND GAS.
v. Carry out system modeling simulations to determine maximum, minimum fault currents and critical operating time for the protection system and carry out protection co ordination.
vi. Determine settings for unit protections and for generators, transformers, cables.
vii. Determine settings for line and busbar protections up to 132kv or higher.
viii. Full working knowledge of system studies on industry standard software used for system studies is required.
ix. Carry out system studies for normal and abnormal scenarios and provide solutions for the network reinforcement for Infrastructure and Oil & Gas Directorates power systems development and debottlenecking.
x. Carry out system modeling simulations to determine maximum, minimum fault currents and critical operating times for the protection systems.
xi. Determine and check adequacy of ratings of the equipment based on the system studies.
xii. Establish the system stability for various operating scenarios and study of voltage profiles during fault conditions and provide remedial solutions.
xiii. Perform protection system calculations for large interconnected power systems, including generation, busbars, motors, transmission & distribution networks and industrial electrical networks.
xiv. Secure and maintain client approvals for protection systems (e.g., DCRP, OETC, PDO, etc.) in compliance with regulatory and utility requirements.
xv. Design and implement optimal protection schemes and relay settings for power stations, transmission/substation projects, and oil, gas, and water infrastructure as per client specifications.
xvi. Build and lead an in house Protection team, ensuring full operational coverage and continuity during absences.
xvii. Conduct and oversee power system studies (short circuit, coordination, arc flash, etc.) to minimize reliance on third party studies.
xviii. Review and provide technical inputs on power system studies conducted by external consultants.
xix. Maintain comprehensive study records and documentation for future reference and audits.
