Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Under the overall guidance of the Chief of Mission (CoM) and direct supervision of the Head of Protection Division and in close coordination with relevant programme units, the Protection Information Management and Reporting Officer will support the coordination and implementation of protection data systems, internal and external reporting, protection data analysis, and inter-agency information sharing.
Education
- Master s degree in Information Management, Data Science, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields, Statistics, Biostatistics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Political Sciences, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant experience; or
Bachelor s degree in one of the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Proven experience in humanitarian information management, preferably in protection or migration settings. Experience in the development and management of databases and applications;
- Demonstrated experience in producing high-quality internal and external reports, including donor reports, analytical briefs, and communications products that synthesize quantitative and qualitative protection data into compelling narratives;
- Demonstrated experience managing protection data platforms (e.g. MiMOSA, RIMS or similar case management tools);
- Experience working with United Nations (UN), International Organization for Migration (IOM), or Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) in humanitarian or migration settings is highly desirable;
- Experience of information management work, particularly on data verification, validation, classification and transaction.
Skills
- Proven analytical skills, including experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, GIS);
- Ability to support the delivery of technical trainings;
- Demonstrated ability to work across a wide variety of sectors/teams on cross-cutting themes;
- Good written and oral communication skills, effective in liaison and coordination with external partners;
- Ability to organize work, work independently and prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks, maintain attention to detail, and coordination with a variety of stakeholders;
- Excellent qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills and demonstrated ability to produce high quality reports;
- Good knowledge of protection principles, confidentiality standards, and data protection frameworks;
- Proficiency in data management and analysis software (e.g., Power BI, Excel, SQL, R, Python, Kobo, ODK);
- Knowledge and understanding of IOM s institutional approach on Protection Information Management (PIM);
- Ability to work with and maintain strict confidentiality, when necessary.
Languages
IOM s official languages are English, French and Spanish. All staff members are required to be fluent in one of the three languages.
For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
Working knowledge of Arabic and another official UN language (Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.
