Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Oversee testing, commissioning, and maintenance of OETC protection systems schemes up to 400kV voltage level, applying best practices for optimal performance, governance, and system availability and reliability.

Description:

  • Address internal and external audit findings related to protection system
  • Review Maintenance and commissioning SOPs and practices related to Protection systems and make recommendations for betterment.
  • Technical supervision of commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting activities on the protection system
  • Oversee implementation of approved designs and modifications to protection schemes, ensuring compliance with protection specifications and procedures.
  • Conduct failures and incidents investigation and root cause analysis, and validate incidents filed reports
  • Study and analyze various network incidents and raise recommendations to reduce the controllable incidents for stable system operation.
  • Carrie out corrective actions to attend defects and minor replacements in protection systems
  • Review OETC specifications for tools, and test kits used to perform protection site maintenance and testing activities.
  • Assess protection system risks and propose appropriate corrective actions
  • Provide technical support to stakeholders. Share skills and experience with colleagues and support the development of others through coaching where possible
  • Technical Support protection engineers in day-to-day work.
  • Ensure consistency of schemes and implementations among all stations in the network. Ensure protection systems drawings are updated and accurate
  • Periodic site audit on the protection systems and generate reports for the management.
  • Ensure site related protection system Cyber security compliance and implementation
  • Contribute to maintaining up-to date protection system database.
  • Contribution towards the preparation of Protection budget, price control, tenders documents, and projects execution.
  • To be available 24/7 to support in emergency conditions providing protection related support for timely restoration of all outages and attend at site whenever necessary.
  • Contribute to engineering, design, and validation of protection scheme, solutions, and new applications & technology.
  • Knowledge and Understanding of the Asset Management, HSE Management, Information Security Management, Quality Management and Business Continuity Management Systems requirements according to ISO 55001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001, ISO 9001 and ISO 22301 standards to carry out the assigned duties as per the roles and responsibilities matrix.
  • Adhere to the Company s health, safety, environmental and security policies always and immediately report violations of these policies to OETC health, safety & environmental representatives

Desired Candidate Profile

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor s degree in electrical Power Engineering

Professional Experience:

7+ years business experience in Electrical Transmission Protection Testing and Commissioning

  • OETC protection Authorization
  • Transmission utility protection system testing and commissioning
  • Different transmission protection relays settings and configurations
  • Related IEC and international standards
  • Transmission incident faults analysis and investigation
  • IEC 61850 standards implementations and configuration
