Roles & Responsibilities

As a Prototyping Support Technician, you will have the opportunity to work with advanced manufacturing technologies and contribute to innovative design processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and support renewable energy related technical activities, including planning, scheduling, and execution of experiments, tests, and installations.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting and diagnostics for electrical, electronic, mechanical, and control systems within the Prototyping Core Lab.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment reliability, safety, and optimal performance.
  • Assist in equipment setup, installation, commissioning, and verification to ensure systems meet technical specifications and operational requirements.
  • Apply strong technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, mechatronic, PLC, CNC, and control systems used in prototyping environments.
  • Coordinate technical tasks and installations effectively, ensuring timelines, resources, and safety standards are maintained.
  • Support researchers and project teams with practical problem-solving, technical guidance, and adherence to SOPs and HSE procedures.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, maintenance records, inspection reports, and project logs.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying workflow enhancements, conducting risk assessments, and implementing root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and the ability to work effectively in outdoor testing environments and under operational pressure.

Desired Candidate Profile

Technical diploma or accredited apprenticeship in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics, Mechanical, or a related technical field.

  • 5 years of hands-on experience in commissioning, testing, and maintenance of electrical and/or mechatronic systems.
  • Practical experience servicing and maintaining prototyping workshop equipment, with PLC and CNC exposure considered an advantage.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical, mechanical, electronic, and control system faults effectively.
  • Experience working in technical laboratory, workshop, or outdoor testing environments with strong adherence to safety and documentation standards.
