Roles & Responsibilities

Department Definition

The School Psychologist is a qualified member in the field of psychology and a part of school team. Providing a wide range of services including psychological assessment, clinical intervention, prevention, promote mental awareness, and developmental characteristics programs.

Main Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Using various licensed psychological assessment methods and tests to evaluate the psychological, emotional, and cognitive needs of students (including People of Determination, gifted and talented students, behavioural disorders, and academically delayed students).
  • Conducting assessments for the purpose of early identification of learning disabilities as well as behavioural, psychological, and emotional problems among students.
  • Conducting individual case studies to identify causes and symptoms, followed by designing appropriate professional intervention plans.
  • Identifying cases of behavioural, emotional and mental disorders and developing appropriate counselling plans.
  • Implementing direct and indirect Behavioural Modification strategies in collaboration with the Behaviour Support and Learning Support teams.
  • Evaluating the efficacy of prevention programs aimed at reducing psychological and behavioural problems among students.
  • Developing specialized programs for students of determination, gifted and talented, low achievers, and behavioural problems students.
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of interventions and modifying them based on the collected data.
  • Following up on clinical cases referred to specialized external agencies.
  • Providing structured and goal oriented Individual Counselling sessions.
  • Designing and implementing group Counselling programs aligned with developmental stages and specific student challenges and needs.
  • Providing psychological, educational, and vocational consultations to students, faculty, and parents regarding developmental milestones and adjustment issues.
  • Promoting mental health literacy and psychological well-being within the school ecosystem through seminars and workshops.
  • Cooperating with local community institutions to achieve integration of roles aimed at improving the level of psychological care and participating in scientific meetings and seminars held at the national level.
  • Activate official and national occasions and implement educational and cultural programs within the school field.
  • Contributing to the standardization and Norming of psychological and cognitive scales to ensure cultural and environmental validity.
  • Maintaining Professional Development (CPD) by engaging with the latest evidence-based research and clinical studies in mental health in order to achieve professional progress through evidence -based practice.

Skills

Requirements for UAE Nationals:

Educational Qualification: Bachelor s degree in psychology or equivalent.

Minimum GPA: Not less than 2.5.

Experience: Previous work experience is not required.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in English, preferably with certificates or training courses in the English language.
  • Computer skills, preferably with certificates or training courses in Information Technology.

Maximum Age: 40 years old.
