Role Overview


We are seeking a dynamic, results-oriented Purchase Manager to oversee and optimise the procurement function for our cement manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will lead purchasing of raw materials, spares, subcontracting etc., ensuring cost-effective sourcing, supplier development, contract management and inventory control in line with plant production goals.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the sourcing strategy for raw materials, packaging materials, maintenance spares and services for the plant.
  • Identify, evaluate and qualify suppliers, negotiate contracts, secure best-value terms and establish long-term partnerships.
  • Monitor market trends, benchmark pricing, drive cost savings and mitigating risks (supply disruptions, quality issues, and logistics).
  • Collaborate closely with production, maintenance, quality, logistics and finance teams to ensure timely availability of materials and services.
  • Manage purchase orders, vendor performance, delivery timelines, quality compliance and payment processes.
  • Maintain and optimize inventory levels, apply just-in-time sourcing, manage obsolescence and work to minimize working capital tied in procurement.
  • Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, internal controls

Key Requirements

  • Demonstrable track record of sourcing raw materials/spares for cement plants in India, strong network of suppliers in Indian market.
  • Strong negotiation skills, commercial acumen, cost-savings mindset and vendor management capability.
  • Understanding of logistics, supply-chain constraints, import/export operations
  • Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced plant environment, make data-driven decisions, drive multiple simultaneous procurement projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering/Business/Materials Management or equivalent.
  • 5-10 years of procurement/purchasing experience in Indian cement industry.
