Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Source steel products and trading opportunities globally, leveraging market intelligence and supplier relationships to secure advantageous deals.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and payment terms with steel suppliers, ensuring cost-effectiveness and favorable commercial conditions.
- Manage the procurement process from RFQ to delivery, ensuring timely order placement, tracking, and resolution of any supply chain issues.
- Analyze market trends, price fluctuations, and competitor activities to identify opportunities and mitigate risks in steel trading.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration and ensuring a reliable supply of steel products.
- Conduct due diligence on suppliers, assessing their financial stability, quality standards, and adherence to ethical sourcing practices.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as sales, operations, and finance, to align procurement strategies with overall business objectives.
- Prepare and present reports on purchasing activities, including cost analysis, performance metrics, and market insights.
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast demand to optimize stock management and minimize carrying costs.
- Stay abreast of industry regulations, trade policies, and import/export requirements related to steel trading.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Possesses a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
- Possesses exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a proactive approach.
- Demonstrates adaptability, the ability to work under pressure, and a strong work ethic.
- Exhibits a strong understanding of financial principles, including cost analysis, budgeting, and risk management.
- Demonstrates excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining strong relationships.
- Possesses strong technical skills, including proficiency in ERP systems, data analysis tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exhibits fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential; proficiency in additional languages, particularly those relevant to key sourcing regions, is beneficial.
- Demonstrates experience in the steel industry, including knowledge of different steel grades, applications, and market dynamics.
- Has a minimum of 5 years of experience in steel procurement or trading, with a proven track record of successful negotiations.
- Holds relevant certifications such as CPSM or CPM, demonstrating a commitment to professional development in procurement.
