Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure high-quality ingredients and supplies specific to Japanese cuisine.
  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including purchase orders, contracts, and delivery schedules.
  • Maintain strong relationships with local and international vendors to ensure consistent supply and favorable terms.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with restaurant management to forecast purchasing needs.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards and regulatory requirements in all procurement activities.
  • Analyze market trends and pricing to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Resolve any supply chain issues, such as delays or shortages, in a timely and effective manner.
  • Collaborate with chefs and kitchen staff to understand specific ingredient requirements and seasonal needs.
  • Prepare regular procurement reports and present insights to management for strategic decision-making.
  • Continuously review and improve procurement policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Desired Candidate Profile

Minimum of 3 years and maximum of 5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably within the restaurant or hospitality industry.

  • Proven track record of sourcing ingredients and supplies for Japanese or Asian cuisine establishments.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Familiarity with food safety standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and operational needs.
